The Great Indian Kapil Show Episode 12 Review

The Great Indian Kapil Show Episode 12, hosted by the ever-entertaining Kapil Sharma, featured a plethora of skits and welcomed musical giants Divine, Badshah, and Karan Aujla as the main guests. While the episode held potential, it unfortunately fell short of expectations in several areas.

The episode kicked off with a skit featuring Kapil Sharma as ‘Pinky,’ a corrupt and flirtatious customs officer. This segment was a nostalgic nod to the custom-check scene from the movie “Crew,” and it delivered a fair share of laughs. Kapil’s portrayal of ‘Pinky’ was amusing and showcased his comedic flair, setting a promising tone for the evening.

However, once the musical stars joined the stage, the energy seemed to dwindle. Kapil’s attempts to blend informative and humorous questions with the guests felt somewhat mediocre. The interactions, though intended to be engaging, often came across as superficial and failed to delve deeply into the musicians’ creative processes or production insights. This was a missed opportunity to explore the fascinating world of Divine, Badshah, and Karan Aujla beyond their public personas.

The release of Badshah’s Ek Tha Raja, which also featured the other two guests from the evening, could have been the main highlight of the show. But, it was a miss and miss throughout. The artists did perform during the course of the show and, witnessed some great talents on the stage but, it resulted to nothing brilliant (which is honestly very sad given how long the runtime of this episode was!).

The saving grace of the episode came from the beloved comedians Sunil Grover, Kiku Sharda, and Krushna Abhishek. Sunil’s character ‘Kya Khali,’ Kiku’s ‘Kim Kong,’ and Krushna’s ‘Donald Drunk’ injected much-needed hilarity into the show. Their mimicking acts were spot-on and successfully revived the audience’s enthusiasm, offering some genuinely laugh-out-loud moments.

The Great Kapil Show Episode 12: Final Thoughts

Overall, the episode had its moments but ultimately felt underwhelming to me. The potential for insightful discussions with the musical guests was overshadowed by shallow praise and lacklustre questioning. Despite the comedic brilliance of the supporting cast, the episode did not fully capitalize on the talent at hand. Here’s hoping future episodes strike a better balance between humour and substance.

You can watch episode now streaming on Netflix.
