Tell Me Lies: 5 Songs from the Hulu Series That We Cannot Stop Listening

Tell Me Lies is created by Meaghan Oppenheimer and, is based on the 2018 book of the same name by Carola Lovering. The show stars Grace Van Patten as Lucy Albright, Jackson White as Stephen DeMarco, Catherine Missal as Bree, Spencer House as Wrigley, Sonia Mena as Pippa, Branden Cook as Evan, Benjamin Wadsworth as Drew and Alicia Crowder as Diana.

With a total of ten episodes in the first season, Tell Me Lies revolves around the relationship shared between Lucy and Stephen in college and how it disintegrated over the years. The first season introduced us to our main characters and their friends who have their own side plots running with the toxic love story at the centre. For the longest time in the show, we understand the attraction Lucy and Stephen have towards each other but, are never able to formulate a meaningful relationship along with the angle of Lucy’s roommate’s death, things get more layered and complicated with each passing episode.

As fans are already demanding for Tell Me Lies Season 2 to start production, we are still hung over the Hulu series that was very dark and real with its story. However, one thing apart from the story and the performances that really stood out in the show was definitely the soundtrack with perfectly timed songs that aided the narrative to the best. Here are the top five songs that we absolutely cannot get over!

Top 5 Songs from Hulu’s Tell Me Lies

Addicted to Love by Florence + the Machine

The final song in Tell Me Lies Episode 1 has to be one of the most instrumental ones that set the narrative for the series straight. The song starts playing when Lucy and Stephen are in their respective dorm rooms at the very end of the episode. The song is from the 2009 album by the indie rock band titled Lungs.

I Was Born to Haunt You by Howling Slayer

A fun Halloween party costume show-off is exactly when we hear Slayer’s scintillating voice making its way to us. It is the first song in the fourth episode of the show called Take Off Your Pants and Jacket and is centred around Bree, who got the most highlighted in the episode.

Heartbeats by Jose Gonzales

The fifth episode offered us a Jose Gonzales song which always takes us back to his live performance at the Church of St James, Dingle for Other Voices in 2005. It played during the time Lucy and Stephen were away from each other at Christmas break and were spending time with their respective families.

I Will Follow You Into the Dark by Death Cab For Cutie

A lovely song following probably one of the loveliest moments of Tell Me Lies, we hear I Will Follow You Into the Dark play during episode seven when Bree and Evan get intimate with each other, solidifying their romantic interests towards one another.

Way Down We Go by KALEO

Be it in this series or otherwise, Way Down We Go is a song that has become a cult favourite over the years and was surely the perfect pick for the season finale. The song starts playing in the final moments of the tenth episode of the show.
