(Trigger Warning: This Article Contains Mentions of Self-Harm and Suicide)
CIX is back with some more music, and this time they have taken a step back to share some vulnerability in the Save Me Kill Me MV. It is directed by Gustavo Ku, while Kim Yunhi developed the script for the video. The video starts off by showing us a school student falling off a roof. It then immediately cuts to their friends surrounding him in the hospital room. There is this sense of brokenness in them. It almost felt like the person who fell was the glue holding them all together.
It is such a beautiful sentiment but during such heartbreaking circumstances, the sadness is almost palpable from the screen. We can see that the main protagonist has been grappling with a lot of external stress. His schoolmates have been bullying him, beating him up to a pulp. It is possible that they were forced to take such extreme actions to escape this constant torment. His four friends gathered outside the room, staring at the person inside as if in disbelief that something so grave had happened, and they weren’t able to do anything to stop it.

The four friends seemed to have been unaware that their own friend was going through something this traumatic while they were together. Similarly, the lyrics are so heartbreaking. They reveal the pain within the deep sadness of this setup. When a person passes away or has been affected deeply, the people around them feel the ripple effects. The song explores how this pain must be much worse for the person going through it. They already want to be saved, or at least separated from all this pain.
The group that performs this song is called CIX. They are a Korean Pop band active since 2019. The band has five members, including Bae Jin-young, BX, Kim Seunghun, Hyun-suk and Kim Yong-hee. They debuted with their first mini-album titled Hello Chapter 1: Hello Stranger. Save Me Kill Me is from their sixth extended play album titled, OK Episode 2: I’m OK. It consists of four songs, including the aforementioned, Back to life, Curtain Call and Color.
