Queen Mantis Episode 7 Recap

The episode opens with Jung-yeon learning that she’s pregnant. She’s extremely happy, but Su-yeol’s harsh words from the other night leave her heartbroken. The next day, Su-yeol, Jung-yeon and A-ra go to Min-jae’s funeral, and the couple share a warm and peaceful moment afterwards. That night, while dropping A-ra off, Su-yeol gets a call from Jung-ho telling him that the doctor he had mentioned is dead and there is no evidence left. Jung-ho tells him to return to the office immediately to talk to Yi-shin.

In the meantime, Na-hee questions Yi-shin but gets nowhere. Instead, she questions the detective about her child and why she gave up on him, telling her in return that Su-yeol has only tried to prove himself to be different from her his entire life. Their conversation essentially goes nowhere as Su-yeol spins him around her fingers. The next morning, Yi-shin gets another call from the copycat, who tells her that they killed Min-jae because he was looking into her and Su-yeol a bit too much. However, Yi-shin is having none of it.

He asks them how they met Jung-yeon, and that’s when Su-yeol realises what is actually going on. As it turns out, it’s A-ra who is the copycat, a revelation that leaves Su-yeol shocked. The team rushes out to find her, but by the time they reach her place, they have already left. Su-yeol is eventually able to get hold of his wife, but A-ra gets her hands on her in the end.

Desperate to find her, Su-yeol is shocked to learn that Jung-yeon is pregnant, which intensifies his efforts to get his wife back even more. As Su-yeol and his team reach his old town once again, Jung-yeon comes to, and A-ra calls Yi-shin, boasting about everything that she has done till now, and she threatens to kill Jung-yeon unless Yi-shin comes to her.

Yi-shin is ready to do what must be done, even if it means that she dies. However, Su-yeol can’t make the decision, but there’s not much to decide – they have to see Yi-shin to save Jung-yeon her her unborn baby. Elsewhere, the Commissioner calls and tells Na-hee that her team is now an independent entity that can kill both A-ra and Yi-shin if they see fit.

As time comes for Yi-shin to meet A-ra, Su-yeol bids his mother a slightly sad farewell as her words ring true in his mind. He ends up handcuffing her, but gives her the keys as well.

Queen Mantis Episode 7 Review

Queen Mantis Episode 7: Jang Dong-yoon, Ko Hyun-jung
Queen Mantis Episode 7: Jang Dong-yoon, Ko Hyun-jung

Another fantastic episode wherein the police are simply a bag of useless bricks. Na-hee’s entire team seems to be sharing one brain cell that oftentimes is with another person outside their team. It’s infuriating watching them say stupid stuff without understanding the econtext or nuance of the situation. Either way, this episode is a thrilling entry wherein the real killer is exposed and their intentions are made clear. The series is mostly fantastic thanks to Go Hyun-jungun’s paralleled performance as Yi-shin. She will keep you glued to the screen throughout.

All in all, I can’t wait to see how the series ends!
