Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians series birthed sundry Greek mythology fanatics back in 2005 when the first book, The Lightning Thief was published. Ever since then, there have been countless attempts at adapting the book series for the screen and it even made way for a movie adaptation. To put it gently, it wasn’t exactly loved by the fans awaiting to watch their beloved characters in action.
Since the fallout of the films, Riordan has been working his hours off to bring this saga to life in the form of a TV series, which would justify the stories within and also flesh out each character as their own. He’d promised to animate each novel as one season of its own.
D23 Expo gave a lot of titles away and they can finally make waves on official business terms. Percy Jackson and the Olympians teaser was one such gift to the fans who’ve been holding on to the mere announcement of the star cast for so long. The teaser is one firm push in the right direction and it transports us all back to our beloved home ground of demigods – Camp Half-Blood.

The first look into the trailer introduces us to the 12 year boy himself, Percy Jackson (played by Walker Scobell), who “didn’t want to be a Half-Blood”. Being one is scary to the extent that “most of the time it gets you killed”. He warns the rest of us to turn back as soon as possible if we think we are one too, and just play pretend and believe the made-up stories our parents told us as kids, so that we can lead a “normal life”.
And yet, he doesn’t have a choice himself but to join the young forces at Camp himself. Donning a similar orange T-shirt ostensibly makes him one of them, but the way all the other young warriors look at him, rather makes him feel like an outsider.
As the sole resident of the ‘Poseidon cabin’ he heads straight inside with everyone’s eyes glued to his back, all while he warns us about our safety. Watch Percy Jackson’s life take a left turn as he heads into a new chapter as the “half human, half hero” son of the Greek God of the seas – Poseidon.
