Oshi No Ko Season 3 Episode 3 Recap

The episode opens with the cosplayers discussing the chaos caused by a last-minute costume change, a decision that threw everyone off balance. Ruby appears in a brand-new outfit of her own, and she looks stunning. It quickly becomes clear that the sudden switch created major logistical issues, as everyone had to scramble to source original costumes. Still, such setbacks are portrayed as fairly common in the entertainment world.
During the shoot, an adult-content cosplayer is subjected to highly inappropriate questions from the director. Unfortunately, the assistant director is powerless to intervene. Despite the discomfort, the cosplayer maintains a cheerful front throughout filming. However, once she gets home, she vents her frustration by leaving a harsh comment about the TV show Ruby is involved in. The assistant director later offers a heartfelt apology, even though the situation was beyond his control. While the director accepts responsibility, he also admits that chasing ratings was necessary to keep the show alive.

The episode shows the constant limitations imposed on those working in the industry. The assistant director explains why thriller dramas often rely on cliff falls for character deaths. Every creative choice, it seems, must navigate these invisible boundaries. Just when things seem stuck, Ruby steps in with a brilliant idea.
Oshi No Ko Season 3 Episode 4 Review

This episode begins with Aqua confronting Ruby, and she calmly tells him that he is not entirely right. She accepts that she did pull some strings behind the scenes to manipulate the scenario in a way that would benefit her, but she never did everything on her own because she is not God. However, she studied the characters whom she controlled very well before she actually set her plans in motion.
Ruby was aware that the director had a habit of causing problems, and he would most likely ask the cosplayer nasty questions. On the other hand, she also knew the cosplayer had the habit of going online and ranting about anything that displeased her. Thus, Ruby directed everything while not being seen as the perpetrator. When Aqua gets to know about these things, he is visibly shaken because he never thought his sister would be as manipulative as he is. He never wanted her to become like him because he always thought that the way he did things was not normal.

This situation makes him go to Ichigo, who completely changes Aqua’s perception about Ai and the person who murdered her. The Aqua, who thought his work had been done and now he can finally live his life the way he wanted to, gets a rude awakening, something he was not at all prepared for. This revelation will not only affect his relationship with his sister, who is slowly becoming like him, but also with others, especially Kana.
Verdict

The way this episode ended showcased many things that give way to more mystery. Akane will play a key role in the upcoming episodes, and it will be interesting to see how she helps Aqua get his revenge. Apart from that, I loved how well-written Ruby’s character has become, and I would honestly love to see more of her.
The episode also showed a pretty good animation that gave me even more hope for future episodes.
