Oppenheimer Reactions: Twitterati Calls Christopher Nolan’s Film His Most Dialogue-Heavy Venture Yet

It’s raining Oppenheimer Reactions on Twitter. Christopher Nolan’s new film has taken the platform by storm with people leaving no stone unturned to praise his artistry. Written and directed by The Dark Knight Trilogy director himself, the film is about J. Robert Oppenheimer, the man behind the creation of the atomic bomb. It’s Nolan’s first R-rated venture since 2002’s Insomnia.

The ensemble cast of Oppenheimer includes Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Jack Quaid and Rami Malek. The cinematography has been done by Hoyte van Hoytema (Nolan’s go-to man who also worked on Interstellar, Dunkirk and Tenet). It has been edited by Jennifer Lame who also edited Tenet. The score has been made by Ludwig Göransson (Black Panther, Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever). The duration of the film is approx. 180 minutes i.e. 3 hours. It is shot with IMAX cameras. Well, there’s your main recipe.

We all know that each release of any Christopher Nolan movie is an event, a fest for cinephiles. Their mere announcement tells us that cinema as an art form is about to get a whole new definition. And now that it is out and the reviews are in, we can proudly say that we were right.

While some have been praising Murphy’s acting, others are glad to have Robert Downey Jr in a new avatar after the Tony-Stark fatigue. Ludwig Göransson is receiving heavy praise for composing the score that adds to the vibe of the film big time. But more than anything else, it is Nolan’s ability as a filmmaker to push the boundaries of the art-from that is being hailed the most.

The film tells the story of how Oppenheimer (Cillian Murphy), through the Manhattan Project (an R&D project during World War II), developed the first nuclear weapons, specifically the atomic bomb. It also explores the romantic facet of his life wherein we get to see his wife Katherine (Emily Blunt) and a woman who was his lover (Florence Pugh). Robert Downey Jr. is playing Lewis Strauss, a senior member of the USAEC (US Atomic Energy Commission). Matt Damon is Lieutenant General Leslie Richard Groves, director of the Manhattan Project.
