NCT’s Chenle and Jisung Release a Delicate Duet Music Cover of Troye Sivan’s Youth

K-pop artists have a shared common affinity for Troye Sivan’s Youth, considering the number of music covers of the song still being released to date and NCT’s Chenle and Jisung’s rendition is another elegant addition to the list. The ‘dreamy’ duo, commonly known as ChenJi among the fans of the group, has released a surprise video of the cover on their official YouTube channel.

Both of the artists in their early 20s are members of the fixed sub-unit NCT Dream, which comes under the umbrella group currently consisting of 23 members, with new expansions in sight. The group’s YouTube channel often forms the ground for releasing solo musical endeavors of the members, and even for other cross-unit collaborations.

Incidentally, this isn’t the first Youth cover released on the channel since their fellow member Renjun had also performed it on one of his previous birthdays as a present to NCTzens (NCT’s fanbase). However, the latest video is strikingly in contrast with the former in terms of the tonality of not only the music but also the visual theme.

Going for an ethereal and natural outdoor setting for the filming, the duo (also celebrated as the fated soulmates who’ve known each other since their childhood) can be seen adorning earthy warm shades, resembling one of their themes for the Elle Korea photoshoot, July 2020 issue. With nature as their guide, the best friends sit back-to-back, leaning on each other, a reflection of their emotional reliance on each other through their hectic schedules.

They birth the perfect musical duet, especially since their juxtaposing vocals blend together to create harmony, unlike others. With Jisung’s raspy baritone complimenting Chenle’s angelic high, yet held back this time, notes, this euphony couldn’t have gone wrong.

Moreover, the lyrics of Sivan’s song, “My youth is yours” sit well with their life stories, having left their homes at a young age to actualize their passionate dreams of attaining artistic perfection. Though spent a long time apart from their respective families, the two, along with the other members of their subunit, have formed an unspoken, sometimes severely chaotic, brotherhood that speaks volumes to the fans as well who’ve come to love their endearing life-long friendship.

ChenJi or ChenSung also share the banner of the group’s entertainment with their long-running playful series titled This and That, wherein the two have attempted several missions related to cooking, sports, games, craft, and more. The endless stream of episodes for the same is available on their YouTube Channel.
