My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 11 Review- The Truth Revealed

Breadcrumbs are a funny thing. They are used all the time in media to hint towards a greater reveal happening sometime later and can make the storytelling a lot more exciting than it would be without them. However, they come with a lot of caveats. You can’t be too obvious with them lest you risk the surprise remaining one by the time of the reveal. However, you also can’t risk the clues being too subtle because that makes the reveal feel like it came out of nowhere.

One of these reveals just took place on our screens in My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 11, and it was amazing. You’ve seen the title of this review and the preview of this episode that came at the end of the previous episode. You know who this was about, and if you are observant enough, you also know what it was about. Dabi came out with his usual overdramatic flair while trying overly hard to be a supervillain attitude to lay down one of the biggest reveals of the entire show so far.

Without spoiling what it was, this reveal was one of the more obvious ones to come out of this show, but I would not say that is a bad thing at all. Setting the base down and leading the viewers very carefully to the endgame while not making any mistakes is a hard task on its own, and doing so while there’s a whole other storyline going around which threatens to destroy the world the characters involved are living in is even more so. This made a lot of sense at this point in the story because this means the supposed saviours of society have now hit absolute rock bottom.

Not only have they suffered heavy losses in this operation, almost losing to the villains entirely, but this twist was the last straw in ruining their reputations. This storyline has been in the works for a while and has been brewing in the background ever since Hero Killer Stain was first introduced. People losing their trust in the Heroes was why the League Of Villains (except Tomura Shigaraki) came together in the first place. This is big. This is the society the rest of this show is going to be based in, and that is an extraordinarily scary thought. A society that doesn’t trust its heroes is a cursed one.

My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 11 was a long time coming, as consequences came for one of the more problematic characters in the show. On the one hand, it feels great to see they don’t get off scot-free with all the horrible things that they did. On the other hand, they genuinely did show remorse after doing these things. Dabi’s Dance was a very well-executed episode that provided a myriad of hints towards the show’s next direction and put an end to some of the show’s well-ran plotlines. Also, Shoto Todoroki is a wonderfully complex character who deserves a lot more attention put on him after this episode.
Verdict
My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 11 was one that we all saw coming, yet it still hit everyone like a truck and blew us away with the storytelling and the character-driven emotions.
