Ms Incognito Episode 12 Recap

The episode opens with Seon-yeong meeting Sung-ho at the house, as he speaks to her as if she’s Ye-rim. He tells “Ye-rim” to beware of Seon-yeong as she is dangerous and after his money. He further tells her that her mother killed her father to inherit his fortune and has been abused by her mother after the incident. However, Seon-yeong doesn’t take the accusation of being pitiful lightly and is immediately incensed.

She then proceeds to stab him to death as she confesses to murdering Ye-rim, and Sung-ho immediately thanks her, after which she stabs him a few more times and then takes his bloody fingerprint on the will. Yeong-ran arrives too late and is heartbroken to find the chairman in such a pitiful state. The next morning, Yeong-ran and Don are shocked to find out that none of the CCTVs were recording the previous night, while Seon-yeong gets ready to be voted as the new CEO.

When the voting goes through and Seon-yeong wins, a video of Sung-ho plays that reveals that her confession was, in fact, recorded the other night, and Byul-nae has brought the tape to the voting to be played in front of everyone. Yeong-ran arrives soon after, and Seon-yeong is immediately arrested. Thankfully, the one camera in the living room was still recording, and it ended up being everything that Yeong-ran needed to put Seon-yeong behind bars.

Thankfully, Secretary Ham confesses as well, making the entire case airtight and, in the eventual court date, Yeong-ran submits Seon-woo’s evidence of Seon-yeong murdering Ye-rim, resulting in the prosecutor asking for the death penalty. In the aftermath, Yeong-ran finally hashes out his feelings for Dong-min, who agrees to wait 10 years for her. Yeong-ran later visits Hye-ji and asks her to continue her life with Tae-min, while Don decides to leave Gaseong Group and start a new life.

After fulfilling all of her promises, including buying the kindergarten land in Muchang, she finds the video of Sung-ho, clearly admitting to planning this entire charade with Seon-yeong to make him confess. It leaves Yeong-ran absolutely heartbroken. Meanwhile, Seon-yeong gets her dues as So-young finds her in prison and beats her up black and blue.

As Christmas approaches, Don visits Yeong-ran to find her gone to find her happiness and leave a little gift for him. In a rather sweet turn of events, Hye-ji and Tae-min get married, and Yeong-ran arrives at the ceremony, much to the happiness and shock of everyone. After a beautiful ceremony, Yeong-ran and Dong-min have a private conversation wherein he asks her to live with him in Muchang, unable to contain his feelings for her anymore and hoping for a brighter future together.

Well, the series ends on a rather meh note as none of this mess was apparently needed from the start, and Sung-ho had it all under control for some reason. I guess I enjoyed the lighter parts, and things did come to a satisfying close with Seon-yeong, but the entire plot of Sung-ho and Yeong-ran was very half-baked and unnecessary. Episode 12 was fine, but everything before it was such a colossal mess that it sours any and all feelings that one might have for the show.
