Ms Incognito Episode 1 Recap

The episode opens with Bu Se-mi starting as a kindergarten teacher in Muchang, as she explains how she got there in the first place – the story actually begins at the Gaseong Group Bodyguard interviews, where Kim Yeong-ran tries her best to land the job. However, although she doesn’t make an instant impact, a quirky little roleplay gets chairman Ga Sung-ho’s favour, and she is immediately hired.

Unfortunately, a previous criminal record lands her in trouble in the end, and with mounting debt, things don’t look good. Sung-ho hears all of this and, in the end, decides to hire her regardless. Yeong-ran is overcome with happiness and starts her duties while coming across strawberry farmer Jeon Dong-min. Yeong-ran eventually gets the rundown of her job, learning that there were five bodyguards before her this year itself.

As she gets settled into her new role, she finds a hidden camera in the kitchen as the chairman watches her take it out inquisitively. In the end, he is impressed by her skills. Yeong-ran starts to observe Sung-ho’s family and relationships and is surprised by his terrible relationship with his two children, who, apparently, are his deceased wife’s kids. Chul-soo eventually fills her in on all the dirty secrets of the family, and she is left unimpressed by what she hears.

After visiting his wife’s grave, Sung-ho enquires about Yeong-ran’s wound on her wrist, and she answers briefly, while asking him about the hidden cameras throughout the house. However, he refuses to answer her and, in turn, tells her to keep searching for the cameras. The two start to share a rather sweet relationship.

With the holidays approaching, the staff goes on a break, leaving only the chairman and Yeong-ran at home. Sung-ho starts to see her daughter in Yeong-ran as her kind heart moves him. He tells her about a woman he had briefly dated and about Ye-rim, his daughter. Meanwhile, Seon-young is displeased when she hears from Butler Choi that her father is alone at home with Yeong-ran. She rushes to meet him and make sure that he’s really alone, and it brings back memories of her traumatic childhood.

That night, Sung-ho calls Yeong-ran to his secret room in his study, wherein he tells her that whatever they wrote about her daughter was untrue – Ye-rim was murdered by Seon-yeong for her mother’s inheritance. With his terminal illness shortening his life to only 6 months, Sung-ho proposes a way for him to get revenge before he dies. Fully expecting him to give her a contract for getting rid of Seon-yeong, she is taken aback when he gives her a wedding ring.

Ms Incognito Episode 1: Jeon Yeo-bin

Ms Incognito starts off explosively. There’s no dilly-dallying with this show, which I am completely enamoured by. Every minute of the show is tense, with complicated backstories and a ton of backstabbing from every corner. The production quality of the show is also top-tier, and the music is absolutely fantastic. All in all, I am on the edge of my seat for what comes next with this one!
