Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 Episode 11 Review- Brotherhood

It feels horrible seeing Mob like this, and the show has done a masterful job of prolonging this suffering so that it can have the most impact on the plot and the characters. Every second with Mob in this state feels like torture, not just to him but to the viewers sitting at home. We know that this isn’t the Mob that we came to know and love. Our Mob is kind, sweet and would never hurt a human being in the way this entity is. However, the reason this is so effective is that despite how much we want to deny it, the one causing this chaos is still Mob.

Mob is the kind of person who would repress himself forever if this meant other people wouldn’t get hurt. He fears his own feelings because he knows the power his emotions hold and how much harm an explosion of Mob’s feelings can cause. For this very reason, Shigeo Kageyama is Mob, for he can’t afford to be anything else but a background character in his own story. In a sense, what we are seeing right now is all of Mob’s repressed emotions coming out all at once because of him not being in control anymore. Mob is dead, but Shigeo is very much alive.

This is an unbelievably fitting final arc to the show. Mob is strong enough that no one else in this world could believably take him down. Not in this short of a time, at least. Thus, his final obstacle being himself, is the right way to go about ending this show, and kudos to ONE for making it this way. It is also fitting in the sense that Mob being in this state has inspired all people who have had the pleasure of knowing him into either stopping him or coming to his aid, which is what Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 Episode 11 was all about.

He had multiple obstacles in his way this time. First, there was the body improvement club, who have been a part of Mob improving himself without his Psychic powers from the start of the show. They represent dedication and camaraderie and have been a part of what makes this show so great. There were also the father-son duo of Sho and Toichiro, the former leader of Claw. Theirs was a tale of redemption and pragmatism, something the show has also always been refreshing about.

The main event, however, was the confrontation between brothers that involved my favourite relationship dynamic in the whole show- Ritsu and Shigeo. Multiple essays can be written on the complicated past the boys have shared, but only one thing matters here- the love they have for each other. Ritsu’s efforts to stop this version of Shigeo were extremely well written and set up well by their interactions in the previous seasons. Ritsu was one of the few who could be the saviour of Mob, and kudos to the show for making it so there are more options than just Reigen for the same.
Verdict
Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 Episode 11 was a fantastic outing that inspired terror in the hearts of many and served as a fitting way to write an ending for this series. It is going to be a hard goodbye.
