The heartfelt TV series explores the various shades of love through six real-life couples who have gone against the prejudices of society and let love win. The series comes at the right time, releasing on February 14, 2024, and the mini-series is a warm watch amid the horrible atrocities happening to people from every section of life in society.
The six different stories might all be of different flavours, but the common thread that connects this series is the fact that the stories give us hope about the future and that there’s something beautiful awaiting all of us in this world. The various shades of love and friendship portrayed in the series really makes your heart flutter and your eyes swell up.

The series really has a lot of heart and, being focused on stories of real people, you feel that in every story. These are real people, with ups and downs that affect their lives deeply, but, in the end, everyone pushes on to do what their heart desires. Each of these stories is about different people in the world who have dared to love and are unabashedly proud of it. The stories are simple but there’s an air of beauty in them.
Of course, Love Storiyaan does have some stories that are better told than others. Focusing on different people from different walks of life, some of the stories fail when it comes to bringing forth the struggles that these normal people have gone through in order to follow their hearts. Some moments in the series feel a bit too forced and made up and lose out on feeling natural.
You can feel the lengths that the creators have gone to in order to make us feel emotional or relate to the stories, which feels like a bummer. I think letting the people tell their own tales is enough of an emotional experience – we don’t need to force the tears to make the stories worthwhile.
That being said, the series is nothing new – if you like watching romantic stories of real people, there are several shows out there that have done something similar. While, of course, the stories are unique, it’s the format that is a little tried and tested and doesn’t make a huge impression. I must say that there are nuggets of beauty in individual stories that will provide great joy to viewers. However, as a whole, I found some segments in every episode a bit exploitative.
Nevertheless, this is definitely sweet and warm and the overarching narrative that love trumps all is always a great concept to watch. Every story has its share of trials and tribulations that the people have to overcome in order to find happiness and they are relatable in different ways. I found none of the characters to be better than others, most have some grey in them for them to feel real. I like that the series did shed light on their worst problems and personal failures although we never really get too deep into them.
It’s also interesting to note that most of the stories are focused on straight, heterosexual people. There’s nothing bad about it but we only get one story about people from different genders/sexualities. It’s a little sad because, considering the rainbow of people that make our world beautiful, we see very little representation of that on the show. Does that make it bad? Not really. But it doesn’t make it as beautiful as you would want it to be. Considering the title of the show, I was of the opinion we would get varied stories. But it’s disappointing that that wasn’t the case.
Love Storiyaan Review: Final Thoughts
Love Storiyaan features six different couples with heartfelt stories that share hope, warmth and a ton of love with audiences. If you’re in the mood for something short but heartfelt, Karan Johar’s latest can be a sweet watch with friends and family this Valentine’s Day. That being said, the lack of representation is a bit disappointing.
Love Storiyaan is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
