He had tricked Muzi into making her believe that they would spend their anniversary looking at the starry sky underwater after he met with his client. After asking Muzi to meet him at the beach, he left for the bar and created evidence for himself by being the centre of attention during the party and later rushing to the washroom pretending to be drunk.

She tells him that he had entered the sea with Muzi that night but came out alone, following which he played out the rest of his plan and pretended to be a husband in distress.

He Fei is shocked by this story and denies everything Chen Mai told him, however, when the timer begins in the room and footsteps are heard rushing to them he has no choice but to give in. After Chen Mai repeatedly asks him about Muzi’s location, he finally tells her that she is at the lighthouse.

He tells her that he had left Muzi there and it was because she was the first one to leave him alone. After he began gambling again after their wedding, he once again accumulated a huge debt and asked Muzi for her help only to be refused. Later, he saw divorce papers in her drawer which left him shocked and that is when he decided to plan her murder and get his hands on her inheritance.

This shocks Chen Mai as she leaves him behind and hurries out, while he struggles to undo the straps and leave. However, once he is out of the basement, he is shocked to see Chen Mai standing with the imposter, Officer Zheng and all the others whom he has been in contact with for the last few days.
