Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible Episode 2 Overview

Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible Episode 2 Review- Settling Into A Pattern

Stinky Kubo Won't Let Me Be Invisible Episode 2

I was hoping this point would come a little later in the series and not the second episode, but here we are. The show has already put all of its cards on the table and is now a straightforward romantic comedy, where one party is desperately trying to woo the other, and the other is obtuse enough to miss all of their flirtation attempts. This is a pattern almost every romantic comedy slice-of-life falls into after a while, but that’s usually after characters and motifs are established properly for a few more episodes.

There aren’t exactly any right or wrong ways of doing these things, and if the show is sincere and well-written enough, it can get away with just about everything. Kubo fits into both of these descriptions in this episode, so you could call it a good episode. Indeed, there was quite a lot to like about this episode, but what this indicates is that if it sticks to its guns with this formula, it will become like every other show in the space of this genre, and one that stands out less than most of them at that.

Weirdly, the cute girl is the less interesting part of the two main characters in the show. Shiraishi is at least unique in his own way, preferring to rot away in the darkness instead of coming into the limelight. Meanwhile, Kubo is just a young girl with a crush, and that’s that. So far, the best parts of the series have come from Shiraishi’s attempts to stay invisible while Kubo tries her best to get other people to notice him. That is when their dynamic works the best, but that part wasn’t really present in this episode.

Instead, Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible Episode 2 was about Kubo trying her hand at various schemes to get closer to Shiraishi and to let him know how she feels about him without explicitly stating her feelings. This led to a couple of scenes that worked really well, like where she invited Shiraishi to take a shower in her house or when she waited a long time just for a chance to walk to school with him. A few efforts were misses, as well. Who knew stalking someone without them knowing wouldn’t actually come off as romantic? Apparently, not Kubo!

The show is traditionally animated and looks gorgeous at times, as the animation style used fits the characters and the story perfectly. The comedic elements are also enhanced by the chibi art style that comes into play during some of those moments. I am not as sold on the music, as what we’ve heard so far hasn’t sounded very memorable. The opening and ending themes are also pretty generic, but the animation in them is still decent.

Verdict

Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible Episode 2 was a pretty good outing, but the show is running a risk of falling into a cycle that will be hard to get out of. We’ll see if this prediction comes true in the later episodes.

All media, industries and superstars need to avoid Harry and Meagan as they both will lead to the downfall of ANYONE who doesn’t comply with Harry’s dangerous and narcissistic devil wife Meagan. Sickening, disrespectful , lazy, good digger witch. Meagan will get Harry or William killed. Boycott ALL projects Meagan is associated with. I am canceling Netflix , Oprah and T. Perry. Meagan will bring them down with her away.
