IT – Welcome to Derry Episode 4 Recap
The series opens with the kids arriving at Clint’s office to deliver the proof and get Hank out of prison. However, Clint refuses to believe them because the pictures don’t come out well. Desperate to save Hank before he is sent to Shawshank, Lilly meets Ingrid from Juniper Hill, but gets nothing constructive from her either. Meanwhile, Charlotte strikes up a friendship with Rose, who warns her to keep an eye on her family.
Charlotte later finds the pictures in Will’s stuff, and he is forced to come clean to her about everything. She warns him not to continue with these dangerous adventures and promises to keep the incident between the two of them. Following this, Will and Leroy go out to fish, and he is attacked by Pennywise. Although Leroy doesn’t believe him at first, he can’t deny the bruises on his arm as well as the ominous red balloon floating in front of them.

Charlotte later meets Clint to talk about the kids coming to his office, and gets a cold welcome when she tries to defend Hank. Sensing something amiss, she goes to Hank’s home to discuss helping him out, but his family seems unsure of making things worse. Meanwhile, Dick gets a vivid premonition that warns him not to let his abilities out, and right then, Leroy comes to him about what Will saw at the river. Dick immediately understands Will’s predicament, but he isn’t able to help Leroy with certainty.
Elsewhere, the kids realise that Pennywise is simply stalking them to scare them to eat them later, prompting Lilly to get a few pills to stop them from feeling scared. Charlotte, on the other hand, threatens the cops to let them see Hank, and gives him hope that she will get him out of prison because he was arrested without evidence and due process wasn’t followed. In the end, Hank confesses to being with a white married woman the night the kids were killed, and that’s why he has been keeping shut about the entire incident.

At school, Marge is attacked by Pennywise, resulting in her losing her eye. That night, Will, too, gets a visit from Pennywise and, this time, Leroy believes him when he sees the red balloon once again. At the base, Dick uses his powers on Taniel to learn what he knows about the location of what they are searching for. Once inside Taniel’s head, he learns about Pennywise’s story and about the 13 shards that were buried around the woods to keep the entity trapped inside.
From there, Taniel tells him about the pillars that he can find by following the tunnel under an old, decaying house from the movies.
IT – Welcome to Derry Episode 4 Review

An interesting episode that continues to be quite slow, I think IT: Welcome to Derry leaves us on unsatisfying cliffhangers a bit too many times to keep us hooked. The fourth episode slowly gears up for something exciting, but the wait is excruciating, and it makes me lose interest a bit. Regardless, I stand by what I said; this series should’ve been released altogether instead of breaking the episodes up. Pennywise’s terror gets diluted because the tension isn’t being allowed to build up.
