Tae-sang saves Chae-ok while Kato loses the serum and Najin, on the other hand, news of the blast has spread across the city. Meanwhile, Tae-sang succeeds in getting Chae-ok outside the hospital and sends a message to Mrs. Nawol to have her prepare some funds for they are soon going to leave the country.

Chae-ok tries to stop him from leaving everything behind, however, Tae-sang reminds her that his words to forever be by her side were not false. Soon, they leave for the place Tae-sang asks Mrs. Nawol to send the funds while Beom-o is given the task to send the items to Tae-sang.

However, Maeda Yukiko’s people have their eyes everywhere and they make their way to Tae-sang by following Beom-o. Yukiko arrives at the location and comments on how she is going to lose a friend again. The first time was because of Chae-ok’s mother and this time it is because of her, now she wishes for them both to die.

With that, she leaves while Tae-sang and Chae-ok are left to defend themselves on their own. Like that, the two begin to fight back, however, the two are no match for the group of men who are here to kill them. While the two struggle to save each other, they are finally pushed to a corner with no chance of survival.

However, right then, Chae-ok’s mother arrives and saves the two but is in a rage which leaves them with no choice but to run. Right then, she arrives behind them and tries to attack Tae-sang but fails when Chae-ok pushes him and takes the attack on herself. She finally stops when she realises that she has attacked her daughter while Chae-ok confesses her love for Tae-sang who is now devastated.

And like that, the two mourn for their loss while the scene shifts back to the hospital where Kato holds a baby in his arms which makes him stop his escape. It is the newborn of Myeong-ja who has a Najin inside, making the child perfect to be used in the way Kato wants.

The scene shifts to Ishikawa’s memorial service where Jun-taek arrives with a note for Yukiko that has her baffled. Re-reading the word “farewell” on the note, she looks around to see flowers sent with the names of the victims who were harmed by her. She understands what Tae-sang has planned but before she can escape, the explosives blast and take down all those who are attending the service.

This move of Tae-sang’s is applauded by all, however, they are unaware of his real intentions behind this act and the pain that he feels deep inside. As he continues to yearn for Chae-ok, times change and the country finally gets its independence from the Japanese. Meanwhile, Kato meets a wounded Yukiko and hands her a cup containing a chance for change- a Najin.

While Yukiko eyes the cup, elsewhere, we see the scene of Chae-ok and her mother underwater. As her mother surrounds Chae-ok, she gives away the Najin that has kept her alive to her daughter as it has the power to heal even a fatal wound. Like that, her mother passes away while Chae-ok finally opens her eyes again.

The scene then changes to a television set displaying the change that took place throughout the country following its independence and we are brought to present day soul. As a man with a suspicious mark on the back of his neck walks to the window, we see that it is Jang Tae-sang’s face but his name is Ho-jae.
