First Lady Episode 9 Recap

The episode opens with Min-cheol asking the other voters to remember their responsibility and vote accordingly, not just according to what the party wants. Su-yeon desperately tries to stop the vote from taking place, but her threats fall on deaf ears, as the leaks circulating make things look unfavourable for him. Elsewhere, Seon-ho, now no longer Su-yeon’s lawyer, hands over all the information that he has on Hwa-jin to Min-ju.

With the Special Act almost passed, Su-yeon desperately tries to use her power to stop the voting from taking place, but it all goes nowhere. As Seon-ho helps Hwa-jin and her friend out, the Special Act is also passed, much to everyone’s happiness. Everyone involved breathes a sigh of relief as they all wait for the truth to finally come out.

That night, Su-yeon calls Min-cheol to talk about stealing from her, but he insists on visiting her instead. Meanwhile, Seon-ho tries to stop Hwa-jin from doing the interview and ruining her life, but she has other plans in mind.

Elsewhere, Min-cheol and Su-yeon meet, and he promises to explain everything if she tells him why she’s so opposed to the Act. After deflecting at first, Su-yeon almost tells Min-cheol the truth, but right then, things take an odd turn when they learn about Hwa-jin being on the news. Just when everyone thinks that she will give a juicy account of her affair with Min-cheol, she reveals that she is Min-cheol’s daughter! She exposes Su-yeon’s plotting as well, which leaves even Min-ju speechless.

Things take a darker turn when the couple fights and Min-cheol asks Su-yeon whether she knew about Sun-jeong and her pregnancy before she kicked her out. Su-yeon refuses to answer and, rather, instructs him to do a paternity test first. The public, meanwhile, goes into a frenzy, asking for Min-cheol to resign while Hoon brainstorms what to do and tells his sister to hold off on the paternity test to get all the party members on their side.

Meanwhile, Min-cheol, after reminiscing deeply about his relationship with Sun-jeong, meets Chan-do, who gives him very interesting information about Sun-jeong’s hit-and-run accident. Although the video doesn’t show any identifying details, it seems like Min-cheol sees something that others can’t. The last scene shows the audience that Su-yeon was the one who killed Sun-jeong!

First Lady episode 9: Eugene

Just when I was convinced that Su-yeon wasn’t the villain that we thought at first, First Lady leaves us feeling intensely for her transgressions. The latest episode is absolutely shocking and will leave viewers on edge throughout the runtime as things go from bad to worse in every scene. I wasn’t expecting the illegitimate daughter thing, but the series bakes that in perfectly, complete with a lengthy love story. Feeling bad for Min-cheol wasn’t on my bingo card this year, but here we are!
