Chainsaw Man is an action, adventure and supernatural anime put on our screen by Studio MAPPA, a hugely popular studio behind some of the other extremely popular shonen properties right now, such as Attack on Titan and Jujutsu Kaisen. Chainsaw Man Episode 7 Review- Denji Will Survive

Chainsaw Man Episode 7 was a trip, and not a good one. What the reaction to an outing is going to be online is almost always predictable. Everyone almost unanimously agrees that Bleach had a phenomenal outing yesterday, that this is My Hero Academia’s best arc in years, and that Mob Psycho is also having a great run in its third season. Chainsaw Man has managed to be one of the more disagreeable and controversial series, which could be partially blamed on the animation type it uses and the fact that it was practically impossible to reach the massive levels of hype this show had generated.

However, the show kept proving the haters wrong, whether through the quality of its animation or the unique story it was trying to tell. However, the show just reached one of its first indefensibly bad episodes and, objectively, the worst episode of the series so far. Chainsaw Man Episode 7 was a bad one, folks. So bad that I don’t believe the show is ever going to clear this low bar again. There are growing pains with everything, and you can’t expect anything to be perfect from the jump. However, giving the show a pass because it is still somewhat new is also unfair.

First of all, the finale of the story that was set up by the ending was supposed to be an epic conclusion to Denji nobly sacrificing himself to save his friends. Instead, it was a boring afterthought where the fight was as generic as it could be, and the fight even more so. It didn’t even last five full minutes counting the opening theme alongside the fight. Even if you’re of the opinion that it was a logical end to the fight, it does not excuse the fact that the previous episode made this seem far more important than it turned out to be. This also ruined the pacing of the rest of the episode.

Where do you go from being stuck in a single place where time has stopped fighting the seemingly unkillable monster who started it all? To the pub to have a party, I suppose. Doesn’t make much sense not to at least lick your wounds afterwards, but that is beside the point. Himeno acted as the mediator for everything and tried to bring everyone in her squad together, especially the ones who wanted to kill Denji just to get out alive. She was also dealing with her own realization of Denji’s abilities and what she could accomplish with him on her side, so she had a lot to gain from doing this. Would you care to guess what happened after this?

Only the most disgusting thing I’ve seen all year, and something that came out of nowhere in a scene you would not expect. I don’t care about how this scene made you feel, but to me, it absolutely turned me off the entire episode and made me not even want to finish it. It also felt ultimately pointless as it was done for comedic purposes while miserably failing to elicit any laughter. For my sanity and taste, these are the exact kinds of scenes the show needs to avoid starting now.
Verdict
Chainsaw Man Episode 7 was easily the worst episode of the series so far. It was paced horribly, disappointing to watch from start to finish, and contained a needlessly disgusting scene that didn’t need to exist. Please, no more of this.

Besides the fight,I thought it was great!!
Even the puking part? I couldn’t stand that as it came out of nowhere.
somebody didnt read the manga this was not a major fight and was definitely following the manga it was hilarious
Does reading the manga have to be a requirement to enjoy an anime? If so, then the anime was not written very well. ALso, even if it wasn’t supposed to be a major fight, the show made it feel that way by ending an episode on the cusp of it. This is on the show and not the viewer.
Demon Slayer was not by ufotable this guy’s an idiot
Apologies, the mistake has been corrected.
Yes Demon Slayer was definitely made by MAPPA 100% wow 200 IQ
Apologies, the mistake has been corrected.
W anime Denji bout to lose his virginity this shit is dope asl. An anime doesn’t have to be a well thought masterpiece to be good, just have it be cool and entertaining. It has cool funny characters so what is there to hate? Lowkey kinda weird to spend time hating on an episode of an anime but to each their own
Spending time hating on something would not be an apt description of what I did, as I have also reviewed the previous episodes of the show, which I loved. I just said what I felt about it, and you re free to disagree. Still, thank you or taking the time to comment.
I guess I agree that the ending to the whole eternity devil thing was a little abrupt, but I thought the pub scene was entertaining and a great way to wind down from that whole saga with some light fun. I also don’t think it’s valid to call something objectively bad just because it’s gross. Especially because the author never does anything purely for comedic purposes. A lot of people find some of the narrative choices weird or off-putting because they don’t realize that those ideas get time to develop into a greater meaning, because most anime condition watchers into thinking that those ideas will be static for most of the show. For example, most people assumed that Denji’s touching boobs motivation would be his entire character, even though he reaches that goal within a few episodes and his character develops further from that experience.
We already see in the episode that Denji’s kiss with Himeno leads to a little bit of bonding between him and Arai. It also characterizes Himeno as a very flawed person despite her seniority, who acts rashly due to the insecurities posed by Makima’s authority (especially over men). However, having read the manga, the whole “taste of a kiss” theme does get some more development in the next episode, and furthers the idea that Denji learns that forced physical intimacy is ultimately disappointing, and that for it to be fulfilling, it needs to be in touch with his emotions. This ties into a deeper theme of Denji struggling with his own apathy that comes into play later, yada yada. My point is… the barf kiss is vital to the plot and is very important😪I swear …
That is a very well-thought-out comment, and I thank you for it, but please understand that having not read the manga, I can only comment on things that I see in front of my eyes, which in this case is two mouthfuls of puke.
That is unfortunately bias
I’m sorry that you felt this way. I tried my hardest to be as objective as possible while still sharing my opinion. Thank you for your comment.
W episode
Very much an L, I’m afraid.
Like Himeno said: “Kids these days are so sensitive”. Author has been watching a completely different show with this review.
Because Himeno has shown herself to be a perfectly sensible and mindful character so far. Her words don’t mean anything, seeing as they come from such an immature person as her.
