Denji Power Chainsaw Man Episode 5

Chainsaw Man is an action, adventure and supernatural anime put on our screen by Studio MAPPA, a hugely popular studio behind some of the other extremely popular shonen properties right now, such as Attack on Titan and Jujutsu Kaisen. Chainsaw Man Episode 5 Review- The Purpose

Denji touches Makima's boobs

How many times have you been able to fulfil a dream of yours? Something that drove you forward in life and motivated you to do and be better? For most of us, that happens once, maybe twice in our lives, and depending upon the sacrifices we made to get there, it can either feel fantastic or bittersweet at the top. Not for Denji, though, for he was filled with nothing but emptiness and disappointment when he got what he set out to get- fondling some breasts. Such a sad state of affairs.

Okay, jokes aside, while this was a foolish motivation to begin with, I am glad that this wasn’t extended beyond episode 5 and left it where it was. The motivation wasn’t strong enough for the deeds Denji would move on to doing despite how humorous the show tried to make it, and it is great that we can move forward with more solid and affirming motivations for him. The kind of motivation that would make him stronger in the face of fear and fill him with confidence when he needs it. Or it could just be sex. That’s probably better, right?

Squad 4 Chainsaw Man Episode 5

Once we move further from the “sex=funny” parts of the story, there is something quite interesting going on with Makima and Denji, something quite subtle and understated for a show as bombastic as this one. It is quite apparent that Makima has intentions beyond what she reveals to Denji, but the way it is portrayed on screen can be quite disturbing at times. Even the ecchi parts with her are coated with a layer of uncertainty about where it is going, but I’m not sure if that’s something limited to my personal experience or if it is something most people are getting. Feel free to drop a comment on this issue.

The entire Squad 4, which Aki, Power, and Denji belong to and Makima is responsible for, was introduced in Chainsaw Man Episode 5, and the jury is still out on all of them. They didn’t get much time to showcase what they were about, and as such, we will wait for an episode or two before discussing them. Aki, however, is fair game and had a lot of this episode dedicated to him, which was done very well and painted a picture of him that sets him apart from the surly anime guy people have been calling him. He is one to watch out for in the show.

While the animation talk is getting old, the music isn’t getting that much attention in the show despite being one of its best parts. Let’s remedy that. Getting the tone of a show right is essential for any original soundtrack, including the show’s opening and ending themes. While the opening isn’t the best, everything else about the show, from the instrumentals to the different ending themes in each episode, is composed very well and adds a lot of life to the show that might not feel this good without them. Chainsaw Man has a truly lovely soundtrack, one that many people will find themselves coming back to.
