Causeway Trailer Breakdown
The trailer of the film starts with the character of Jennifer Lawrence, Lynsey, who is a US soldier forced to return to her home after suffering a traumatic brain injury on her Afghan Tour. Lynsey can be seen sitting on a bench while inhaling nervously until she is interrupted by James(played by Brian Tyree Henry).
He asks him if she is fine, and then starts to have a conversation with her. The trailer then shifts to a series of montages about their present life and the mutual element of trauma and grief that they share. Throughout the trailer, we can see Lynsey having a difficult time adjusting to a new life and order.
As the conversation on the bench moves forwards, they both open up about their respective lives. We can see glimpses of James’ personal loss and the impact that it had on him. Furthermore, there is also a moment when Lynsey is at her checkup, most probably for the injury.

The trajectory of the trailer also shifts to some moments of peace, where Lynsey and James are sharing a drink together, and laughing with each other. However, it doesn’t last long as they both have volumes of unexpressed emotions that pull them back. The official clip captures these instances in just one minute and forty-four seconds.
The whole trailer carries a vibe of subtle emotions layered with a calming background score that moves the story forward. At one point, we can even see Lynsey having an emotional breakdown, leading to unexpressed anger.
All in all, the trailer for the film looks utterly promising with a heartbreaking performance from both actors. You can feel the subject of grief and trauma, depicted with complete honesty and supervision from the makers.
