Bling Empire New York is an American reality series on Netflix. The series features Dorothy Wang, Blake Abbie, Tina Leung, Richard Chang, Lynn Ban, Vika Abbyaeva, Deborah Hung, Nam Lake, Stephen Hung, Jett Kain and others. There are 8 episodes of 40-45 minutes approximately. It is a spin-off to Netflix’s Bling Empire series that features wealthy Asian-American people.
The synopsis reads, “A new cast of stylish Asian American socialites flaunts their fortunes — and fashions — while bringing the drama and living it up in New York City.”
Bling Empire New York Review Contains Spoilers
Bling Empire: New York features several wealthy Asian-American people who are either running a business, are in the fashion industry or are influencers, such as Dorothy Wang, Blake Abbie, Tina Leung, Lynn Ban, and Vika Abbyaeva. Nam Lake is an exception, as she completely depends on her wealthy father’s money.
The show is no different from other Bling Empire or other such reality shows that feature materialistic and wealthy privileges and petty dramas. Among the extremely wealthy, Richard Chang is yet to climb the ladder of success and to do all he can to make it big in life. But people around him think he’s always using others for his business; he’s pushy and tries to make an opportunity out of everything.
Netflix has a lot of series like these that have certain fixed components – backbiting, fake friendships, fights, melodrama and relationship problems. Bling Empire New York focuses a lot on Dorothy and Tina’s twisted friendship with Richard, Dorothy and Deborah’s Cold War, and issues in Richard and Vika’s relationship, among other things.
In the reality series, people always act ungrateful and have petty issues, and their “problems” are laughable. The last show I watched with a similar concept was Dubai Bling which at least had many over-the-top moments and fights. Sadly, these New York elites wear flashy clothes but have dull and unappealing personalities and stories.

It is known that such shows are always scripted; at least make them believable. In one episode, Dorothy and Tina agree to go on a double-blind date and meet 2 strangers men. However, later in the 6th episode, she panicked when Dorothy tried to set her up with a man in a club. Tina started crying and said she gets scared while talking to men and with their attention due to her past relationship trauma. I wonder where was all the trauma when she was on a date in the episodes earlier!
Tina also annoyed me when she reached late for a big fashion event and cried so much as if forcing us to forget that she was the one at fault. If you want to be popular and want people to know you, at least learn to make a positive impression. Dorothy is a complaint box who thinks she is better than everyone. To be honest, I wish to be delusional like her in life.
In another instance, Lynn Ban makes mean comments about Richard and Vika’s relationship. She tries to give Vika helpful advice but says hurtful things and doesn’t know when to stop. Lynn discusses Richard and Vika’s issues in front of the people who don’t like him. She even claims that her marriage is not like that. However, the reality is different. We often see stressful moments between Lynn and her husband, Jett Kain.
Bling Empire: New York Review – Final Thoughts
Overall, after completing the series, my first thought was – money can buy you all the expensive things but not brains and class. It’s a show full of filthy rich but dumb and pretentious people who can’t even keep one interested in their so-called happening lives. These people might be influential in NY and popular enough to be a part of the Netflix show. But they lack real personalities. There is no bling, just bland presented to us.
The show is now streaming on Netflix.

I’m feeling happy I don’t live in New York, these people have such struggling and empty lives, Dorothy was sweet and actually smart, she’s got a lot of money and it is understandable why she struggles with the simplest things in life, though apparently she’s a successful business woman so I’ll give that to her, THE REST of the cast was so concerning, Lynn bann and her obviously closeted gay husband was weird af, Richard such social climber entitle prick (hate those type of guys) obviously controlling his shallow girlfriend, Tina was a big wooow for me, shocking to see someone who looks so happy on social media looking sooooo sad on camera, like you can see that in her eyes, it’s so sad, the hungs….interesting and sad too, the rich guy who purchased his trophy wife in Asia, good on her! Nam, poor thing, got cut off for spending 10k, Lol, girl, rich people spend 10k and don’t go cut off so easily, so…too much bullshit but 0 bling.
Girl, you’re spot on. This show was such a drag. The drama was completely pretentious and laughable, especially from Dorothy and Lynn. They’re thirsty AF for Richard. Like, why talk so much shit about him during the trip when you’re supposed to be there to help Tina? It’s high school gossip mean girls all over again. So lame. Was the point of the show to humanize the wealthy? Boo-hoo, they may have money but they’re lacking brains like any other person. Be kind to them and don’t judge? This show did them no favors.
