Bleach TYBW Part 3 Episode 7 Recap

When the challengers converge to confront the new king, they quickly form smaller groups, each racing toward the palace where Yhwach is believed to be. Bazz-B and his faction split off from the Soul Reapers, while Mayuri remains conspicuously absent. It turns out that Mayuri had crafted a separate gate for himself to ensure he could enter undisturbed. In an amusing twist, Zaraki and his crew ended up using this very gate after missing the previous one due to a bathroom break. This unexpected moment of humour provided some levity before the story took a darker turn.
Tension rises when Kyoraku’s group is ambushed by Barro, resulting in severe injuries for many Soul Reapers. Meanwhile, Ichigo’s team faces its own challenges as Grimmjow encounters Askin, who appears far from enthusiastic about the confrontation. In a chaotic and hilarious exchange, Grimmjow charges at Askin like a madman, prompting Askin to flee while insisting he’ll kill them but in his own sneaky, trouble-free manner.

The dynamic between Grimmjow and Askin provided some comedic relief, leaving us eager to see how their battle unfolds. However, the true centrepiece of the episode was the intense clash between Renji and Uryu. Renji, often underestimated, displayed remarkable growth in this fight, showcasing his newfound strength and evolution as a fighter.
Bleach TYBW Part 3 Episode 8 Review And Recap

In the first half of today’s episode, the focus is on two of our favourite characters Zaraki and Mayuri. They finally come across an interesting opponent whose nature they do not understand in the beginning. Pernida, one of the elite guards of Yhwach, has quite a unique appearance. It has an inflated head, and we have only seen it stay hidden inside a hood.

Upon noticing it, Zaraki obviously rushes towards Pernida without thinking about the consequences and gets his hand chopped off. He also deals significant damage to Pernida, but that does not do anything. However, Zaraki cannot get out of the fight without a scratch as his situation becomes pretty critical, and Mayuri has to anaesthetise him to stop him from rushing into danger any further. Thus, we see the fight happen between Pernida, who is the left arm of the soul king, and Mayuri in a very weird and interesting battle.

Through this battle, we understand just how broken Mayuri’s abilities are, which does not just rely on his Zanpakuto. He has many interesting ways to counter an attack and thinks of crazier ideas that seem unnatural. I think it is great that an enemy like Pernida, who can control nerves, is getting handled by someone like Mayuri, who has no qualms about harming his own body to get effective results.
Their face-off is also pretty gory and might make you squirm with its abundant body horror scenes. Apart from that, this episode was again absolutely visually stunning, keeping the unbreakable streak of good animation intact. I also loved the background music that perfectly went with the scenario happening on screen.

Verdict
Today’s episode was absolutely awesome, and towards the end, it became even better. The highlight of this episode is definitely the fact that Mayuri unleashed his Bankai, which is creepier than ever before. He is truly a mad scientist who can go to great lengths for his research and his preferred outcome.
