A Model Family Ending Explained: Will Dong-Ha Be Able To Leave? Will There Be a Season 2?

A Model Family takes crime thrillers to the next level with an intense plot and amazing cast that fill the fans and viewers with excitement. Starring Jung Woo, Park Hee-soon, Yoon Jin-seo, Park Ji-yeon along with other cast members, the 10 episodes show premiered on August 12, 2022.

The story of A Model Family revolves around a family that is facing dire financial situations which are leading to many problems and possible separation. However, the family soon gets involved with the members of a drug cartel and now has to complete missions that will bring them face to face with some deadly situations.

Netflix’s synopsis reads:

AFTER UNWITTINGLY STEALING MONEY FROM A CARTEL, A CASH-STRAPPED PROFESSOR FINDS THE ONLY WAY TO SAVE HIS BROKEN FAMILY IS BY WORKING AS A DRUG COURIER.

A Model Family Ending Explained

The show’s last episode tries to bring an end to things for the characters but it is not as easy as it seems. Dong-ha helps Gwang Cheol by betraying Kang-jun who is given an end that leaves the former shocked and surprised. No doubt, this naive and timid man is still struggling to accept the people and the situation he has involved himself with which leaves him shocked every time.

But this is only the beginning, upon reaching home he finds the police digging up his backyard in an effort to find the dead bodies. However, another twist leaves the police with nothing and Dong-ha finds out that the bodies have already been moved by his father.

Later, Dong-ha digs up the dashcam video to find out what really happened to Han-cheol and finds out that the two got into a fight when Myeong-su attacked him which resulted in their deaths.

The episode then proceeds with Dong-ha trying to tie up some loose ends as he lets Joo-hyun know the location of Han-cheol’s body, which brings her some closure. But she soon learns that the mole in the department is none other than Jung-kook and she is the real reason for Han-cheol’s death. She gathers evidence against her and goes ahead to shoot Jung-kook in front of everyone in the department.

Elsewhere, Hyun-woo is unable to get a heart transplant which brings an emotional moment for the family. Dong-ha is thinking about his situation for a long time now and wants to get out of this agreement. After much thinking, he decides to turn himself in, but when he is about to reach the police station, he gets a call.

A voice tells him to keep the phone safe because the lives of his family now depend on him and that they will meet soon.

A Model Family has Dong-ha starting the show as a timid but desperate man and ending with him being timid but a little braver. He wants to do the right thing by turning himself in and taking up the responsibility for his wrongdoings, but leaving this circle is not so easy.

The family has come a long way and they have had their fair share of character development, however, the marital issues of Dong-ha and Eun-ju are far from being solved as things have only gotten worse for them.

Instead, Dong-ha and Gwang Cheol have somehow developed an unlikely bond which has them help each other in the most unexpected ways.

Will there be a Season 2?

The phone call that ends the show clearly indicates that this series has just begun and the circle is ready to continue onto another season. There is a lot more to come and it is a known fact that leaving this circle is not an easy task. So with more to come in the life of the drug courier Dong-ha, the show should bring up another season.

But for now, we will have to wait for an official statement from the creators that will confirm an upcoming season.
