Nice to Not Meet You Episode 1 Recap

The episode opens with Lim Hyun-joon delivering food to a printing house and realising that his next delivery is for his ex, Se-na. He awkwardly arrives at the delivery location, where he bumps into Wi Jeong-sin, who is going through her own issues while trying to meet an Assemblyman. Either way, she ends up in Hyun-joon’s car, and after some initial bickering, the two agree to become acquaintances.

Meanwhile, Hyun-joon suddenly finds himself with an acting job that comes to him unexpectedly. Although he is initially resistant to the idea, the director wears him down to accept the role. After a brutal acting schedule that leaves him completely exhausted, he is ecstatic to finish the project, unaware that it will change his life forever. He immediately gains massive popularity after the film becomes a major hit, getting projects one after another.

Elsewhere, Jeong-sin, too, becomes hugely famous as a political journalist whose dedication and eye for detail push her to the top. Unfortunately, Hyun-joon is tired of being typecast as a detective, while Jeong-sin is forced to work at the entertainment desk after an article she was working on ruffles some feathers.

For anyone who wants a fun and chaotic story this week, Nice to Not Meet You is off to a fun start with the most insane storyline unfolding. The humour is quite in your face and loud, but I think the series presents it well enough to be enjoyed rather than feeling annoyed. Of course, this is simply the introductory episode and only gives us a hint about who all of these characters are. The real fun should start next week. I see hints of a crime being solved in the future as well, which should be interesting, considering Lee Jung-jae’s character.
