Wellmania is a series directed by Benjamin Law based on the book written by Brigid Delaney. The story focuses on the wellness industry and how it tends to extract money from people. The main character is Olivia Healy, shortly known as Liv, a selfish and arrogant woman whose fate changes when she returns to her hometown.

The official Netflix description reads,

Wellmania Ending Explained

Liv visits Sydney to attend her brother Gaz’s wedding. She is a rude and selfish food writer who works successfully in New York. She has bagged a huge TV show as a judge, but before attending it, she comes to Australia, and that’s when the mess starts. When Liv is at the beach, she gets robbed but doesn’t bother about losing the money.

However, when she realises her green card is lost, she tries to get a new one. Sadly, her bad attitude causes her problems. Since she fails the medical exam, the consulate declines her green card and asks her to get her wellness under control, to which she bets in a month she’ll return.

Does Liv Succeed?

Liv goes to psychiatrists and therapies like cupping, gym, and such to bring her health to a good status. While she struggles to get in shape, it’s clear that the wellness industry only tends to grab the money because in reality, getting a healthy body takes a long time. This pushes Liv to stay in Australia a bit longer.

Liv has serious panic attacks as she carries a dark secret. At Gaz’s wedding, she faints and is taken to the hospital. Gaz’s wedding goes as planned, thankfully. Liv fears that she might not get the green card at the hospital due to poor health, but the doctor informs her that her health is good. Liv decides to leave for the US, but her mother, Lorraine, and brother Gaz try to stop her. She rages at them and leaves.

What Happens to Lorraine?

When Lorraine follows Liv to her home, the latter opens up about her dark secret. She confesses that she is partially responsible for her father’s death as she forced him to swim despite knowing his health condition. This leaves Lorraine perplexed. Liv grabs a flight and reaches the production right on time. She has a panic attack right before going on to the stage but somehow manages to pull off a great event.

Meanwhile, back in Sydney, Liv’s mother encounters an accident, and Gaz tries to reach Liv. Since Liv’s phone is not with her, she remains unaware of her mother’s accident. Will her mother be alright? This is a question that a possible season 2 will answer.
