Fortune Feimster: Good Fortune is the latest stand-up special, released on Netflix on 25th October 2022. Filmed at the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Fortune is back for her second Netflix comedy special, after Sweet & Salty. In this hour special, Feimster recalls the time she proposed to her now-wife, Jacquelyn Smith. It’s a story they’ll both always remember, but not for the right reasons. It has a runtime of about 1 hour. Feimster has previously starred in The Mindy Project, Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar and Life in Pieces and lent her voice to Q-Force, The Simpsons and Mindy Kaling’s upcoming animated series Velma.

Good things come to those who call their friends, plan an amazing proposal, and end up in life-changing situations in a room full of strawberries. Expanding on her confessional brand of comedy and how she’s different from what meets the eye.

Fortune reflects on her own good fortune, including some big life events she’s experienced the last couple of years like falling in love with her wife and the extravagant proposal she planned that didn’t go as expected, and much more.
She starts off her set by talking about the last few years and how she is not good at survival. She tells the audience, how unproductive she has been, while her partner was doing anything from painting the fences to plumbing, you name it. Here the discussion about ‘Butch women’ comes out and how she may look like one, but is far from it.
While on the other hand, Jax is a kindergarten teacher who can do anything it takes, be it attacking someone who broke into their house – with a heel in one hand or taking their pet for a serious check-up at the vet. This is followed by how recesses used to be in the 80s. Kids were left unattended, fending for their lives on dangerous swings to activities that wouldn’t be approved now.
The majority of her set involved the story of how she finally proposed to her girlfriend of 7 years. From booking a Big Sur room with an ocean view to setting out candles, champagne and chocolate-dipped strawberries, one would think Feimster has what it takes to give The Bachelor producers a run for their money.
But as she reveals in the trailer, “We finally get up there, and it’s just fog, fog, fog.” Well, despite not having luck on her side, Feimster’s still able to find some laughs along the way. Everything might not have gone as she had planned, but if you got a sense of humour as she does, you would get a definite yes, from your significant other.
Summing Up: Fortune Feimster: Good Fortune
Feimster’s second Netflix special after almost 2 years is a quick and entertaining watch, with a wholesome ending, as her dog and her partner joined on the stage. We also got to see some of the beautiful and hilarious pictures from her wedding, which she talked about in her set.
The audience is fully immersed in her stories and reacts energetically to every joke, which makes the show much more lively. She truly breaks away from the image of being a butch woman and proves that she’s different from what meets the eye.
