-Eesho Review Does Not Contain Any Spoilers-
While working the night at an ATM, a security guard, who is the prime witness in the case against a powerful industrialist, happens to come across a mysterious man named Eesho. The duo strikes up a conversation which leads to a friendly bond between them, but the guard is yet to know the reason for Eesho’s presence.

Meanwhile, as they are involved in the conversation, they come across unexpected faces and events. During the conversation, the guard also pours his heart out to the stranger before realising that Eesho may not be a friend. Who is he and what does he want?
The film starts off on a melodious note with a daughter and mother duo, singing and going about their daily lives together. But they are always recording everything on the phone, to send it to someone. Probably for the father, who isn’t seen anywhere, but before we could get to know the sweet duo more, they are met with an unfortunate event.

This event sets the base for the film, and we are introduced to one of the main leads, Ramachandran Pillai, who is a prime witness in a horrible case against a powerful man. But just before the court hearing, his life seems to be in danger as he stands opposite someone who would do anything to win the case.

That’s when Jayasurya as Eesho comes in. The major portion of the film and all the events unfold on the night before the court hearing. And we see that this mysterious man is weirdly following Pillai throughout the night. Is he the one sent to kill him or a godly saviour like his name? The suspense keeps up until the ending 10-15 minutes of the film and his identity is a twisting element of the film.
The trailer of the film is gripping enough and the same thrill is transformed into the feature film as well. The plot of the film keeps you questioning all the random and weird things happening, just in the span of a night. Here Jayasurya’s acting is the driving factor that leads the plot with his eccentricity.

Overall, the story of the film is somewhat simple and predictable but what keeps the suspense alive is the actors. You might get a clue about what is going to happen or the identity of the mysterious man but you still want to see, if you are actually right or if some other surprise is waiting for you at the end.
Summing Up: Eesho
In all essence, this film is a revenge thriller drama which doesn’t reveal all its cards till the end. The music score also helps in supporting the visuals and adding an element of impending horror or suspense. The film was shot in Mundakkayam, Kuttikkanam, Peerumedu, Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam and Dubai.
The film is a social commentary on the crimes that have been on the rise and how it affects the people who become the victims of them. How do the victims get cornered and pushed to take such extreme steps? It’s a story of a person who takes matters into their own hands when justice seems to be biased toward the powerful.
Eesho is currently streaming on SonyLIV.
