Urusei Yatsura Episode 21 Review: Naughty Pranksters
Still From Urusei Yatsura

Episode 21 is here, and we are back again with another review. This episode starts with Lum having a meeting with her girlfriends, which includes Oyuki, Benten, and Ran. That is when Oyuki delivers some news that shocks everyone present. She talks about a planet called Urchin, which apparently has undergone redevelopment. At first, Lum and others do not really care about it, but suddenly they remember that someone is there who has deep ties with them.

Then the whole story unfolds, and we, along with Ataru and Mendo, who later joins the girls, get to know about the mystery of the planet of Urchin.

Many years back, when Lum and her friends were still in elementary school, they were a bunch of unruly kids who didn’t care about discipline. This is why they would go head to head against their robot teacher called CAO-2.

He would often scold them and punish them for their escapades. That is when Benten decides that they must do something so that the teacher will not trouble them anymore and thus start a series of attacks against him, including dropping a 500-tonne iron slab on him, shooting him with missiles, etc.

Sadly, none of this works, and only when he tries to catch them near the planet Urchin, does he get stuck in one of the spikes. He has been there all this time, swearing revenge on his students who left him there for years.

The next part was heavier on the comedy side, and it shows Ryoko, who recently got herself into making voodoo dolls. The very first doll she makes is of her brother Mendo, and she mercilessly uses it to torment him.

Then in the name of protecting the doll, she leaves it to Ataru, who furthers Mendo’s problems by wearing it like a necklace. Now whenever Ataru gets beaten or hurt, he automatically harms Mendo in the process. Find out what happens to Mendo and his doll by watching the episode yourself.

Verdict

The first part was cute as it showed the beautiful girls of Urusei Yatsura in their chibi forms and how boisterous they had been when they were kids. The next part is definitely hilarious, as the antics of Mendo and his sister have always been very entertaining. Go and watch this show if random slapstick comedy is your thing. Watch the anime on HIDIVE if you haven’t yet.
