Episode 20 is here, and we are back again with another review. The episode starts with Lum talking to Oyuki about the sudden disappearance of Benten. She has not returned to her home, and Oyuki tells Lum if she happens to meet Benten, let her know that Oyuki has a package for her. Lum returns to Ataru’s room and surprisingly meets Benten there. When she asks why she has been away and not going home, Benten tells her she has been searching for something. Upon asking what it is, she reveals the chain that she always carries is missing.

We get more details about it how it got lost in a meeting in Oyuki’s place where Oyuki, Benten and Lum are present. Apparently, Benten was in the pink mushroom forest when she suddenly saw someone pass out. She went to check if she was dead or not, but Benten too fainted, and when she woke up, neither the girl nor her chain was there anymore. It is obvious that girl must have stolen this item. From the way Benten reacts upon losing it, we recognise the chain’s importance in her life.

Later, Oyuki shows Benten a videotape that has been sent to her in the name of Benten. This video showcases the girl who tricked Benten along with two other girls who call themselves the three rowdy punksters from planet middle school.

They have taken the chain hostage so that Benten, Oyuki and Lum, who are famous for being the most hardcore punksters of the previous generation, fight with these middle schoolers. This way, the new generation will be able to pick their rightful title and consider themselves to be the best.

Thus starts a very random yet oddly funny battle between two groups of women fighting for a chain whose value gets revealed at the end, leaving the audience dumbfounded at the revelation.

The fight between these girls is also something that should make you laugh as we could see the middle schoolers failing miserably but still holding on to the chain without knowing its purpose.

Verdict

In this episode, we saw some new characters and definitely missed some of the recurring characters, including Ataru, who was nowhere to be seen here. The story mainly focuses on these six girls and their escapades. Till the end, it was funny, bizarre and entertaining in its own unique way. Watch the anime on HIDIVE if you haven’t yet.
