The loss of Sega in the console market is sorely missed as we move on to Uncle From Another World Episode 2. What does the magical uncle have in store for us this time? Let’s find out in this review!
Uncle From Another World Episode 2 Overview

Uncle From Another World or Isekai Ojisan in original Japanese is a comedy and fantasy anime based on a manga written by Shindeiru Hotondo and serialized in Web Comic Apanta. The series is developed by studio AtelierPontdarc and will be their first foray into the world of anime.
The show is being directed by Shigeki, who has been a part of the production of several anime in the past, including Darling in the Franxx and Blue Exorcist, although this is also his first venture into directing an anime. The episode is also called Isekai Ojisan Episode 2 and Isekai Uncle Episode 2. Click here to read the review of the previous episode of the show.

Uncle From Another World Episode 2 Review- Game Magazine

As expected, the second offering of the show was less impressive than the first one. That much is to be expected, as most shows spend a lot of effort to give off a great first impression. However, keeping up the quality, or at least being somewhat close to it, is just as important in the long run. You never want to burn out too quickly, as retaining an audience, in that case, might prove impossible for shows as relatively obscure as this one. Of course, this episode wasn’t a bad one by any means, and these words shouldn’t be misconstrued as such.

The pattern that these episodes are following is pretty apparent now. The story hinges upon the titular uncle being a colossal idiot in his otherworldly adventures and ignoring the usual tropes for which the genre is famous. He doesn’t do anything common, whether it be ignoring all of the signs of establishing a romance with anyone who seems to be interested or not socializing with anyone due to his natural introverted nature. Repeating what I mentioned in the previous review, this kind of pattern is hard to maintain for a full-length show, and I expect this to be out of ideas much sooner.

Uncle isn’t a very well-realized character in that he can be astonishingly dumb and exceedingly wise without much of a gap between his two personalities. There isn’t a reason for how he is, except that he is a nerd who didn’t have an opportunity to learn how his own world worked before being transported into another. The show also plays with how absurd isekais can be when viewed with a rational lens and not one that ignores all of the wackiness of anime in general.

There was a new character introduced in this episode who is Takafumi’s close friend and could be much more if the nephew didn’t take after his uncle this much. She is also the straight man in this show who reacts to all this oddity with the bewildered reactions of a normal and rational human being. This is an arc that has been done thousands of times in a thousand different mediums, but it works like a charm every time to make the absurdity stand out, which seems to be the case here.

The production quality of Uncle From Another World is surprisingly high. There are some astonishingly well-animated frames here that do a great job of distinguishing the show’s two parts- the other world and the real world. The real world is grimy and intentionally ugly at times, while the other world is more like the traditional shows of this variety. The uncle looks just as bad in both of these sections, but that is supposed to be intentional and works well to once again mess with the general isekai tropes.
Verdict
Uncle From Another World Episode 2 was a decent outing that continued Uncle’s love affair with Saga along with his obliviousness to real-life romance.
