The Idol OST: All the Songs from The Weeknd Series That Made the Show Worth Our Time

The Idol might be facing a lot of backlash from fans because of the kind of screenplay it rested on or how badly the actors failed to deliver convincing performances. However, there is one thing no one can deny, the series served us some of the best music we have had the pleasure of listening to in a long time. In fact, it wouldn’t be too far from the truth if we say that the show’s soundtrack is much better than the show itself.

The show uses an array of songs, some original and some already released by various artists before. Here we have listed the best songs in the show that were released during the episodes and make up for the show’s original soundtrack.

Best Songs From The Idol OST

World Class Sinner/ I’m A Freak

Lily Rose’s Depp’s Jocelyn is a pop singer, so it is only natural that the first song we here in the actor’s voice is something from that genre. Presented to us with a sexy choreography, I’m A Freak is Jocelyn’s comeback song into the world and is a powerful, girl-boss anthem. The lyrics of this song are rather transformative in nature as it tells us the story of how Depp’s Jocelyn is coming back to the world as a ‘good girl gone bad’. Needless to say, the song is really catchy and stands out in the first episode.

Family (with Suzanna Son)

Hands down, Suzanna Son is one of the best voices in The Idol. Her character, Chloe is a member of Tedros’ club/cult/team- whatever you want to call it and, is a person who can sing almost anything and everything. Son’s voice is one of the most powerful tools in the show and tells us a lot about who she is and how she is feeling.

Family is a song that plays during the second episode. We see Son’s Chloe sing this song on the piano shortly after she witnesses Tedros and Jocelyn have sex in a rather vulgar manner. The captivating song explores the family dynamics in Tedros’ cult and leaves an impactful message for us.

Crocodile Tears

Another song by Son that completely speaks the character Chloe’s heart out and, might just be something that is rather reflective and contemplative. The song is written and performed by the actor-singer and talks about how being insincere about oneself to the world is the best way to survive because if you reveal your true self and stand on the expectations people have of you, they are still going to be mean to you. A hard-hitting song that completely wraps you in with an incredible melody.

One of the Girls (with Jennie, Lily-Rose Depp)

Released during episode four, One of the Girls might just be the hottest hit from the show. It is still unclear if it is because the BLACKPINK sensation is a part of the song or because it plays during a rather plot-twisting episode but, it is something everyone has loved from the OST and we stand by it. The song’s lyrics explore the controlling relationship between Tedros and Jocelyn, the fame and desire they swim in with hints of Stockholm syndrome.

False Idols (with Lil Baby, Suzzana Son)

This collaboration piece between The Weeknd, Lil Baby and Suzzana Son isn’t something out-of-the-box. In fact, it is one of those songs you listen to and the music will tell you it is a The Weeknd track featuring all the synth it can. Having said that, this song was released during the finale and we saw Son sing the lyrics beautifully which made us a fan.

Popular (with Playboi Carti and Madonna)

The first collaboration between The Weeknd, Playboi Carti and Madonna, this song was released during the season finale and it hit us like a wrecking ball with the plot twist that no one saw coming. Staying true to the show, the song explores the desperation of fame and being on the top and is one of those songs with a very distinct music style.
