The show consisted of 7 teams who were labelled with different colours. Team yellow consists of Edrei Pop and Pegu, Team Orange has Rosita and Brittani, Team Red is made up of Bachurito and Vania, Team Purple includes Josel and Jorge, Team Green has Alejandro and Emanuel, Team Blue has Talia and Cesar and lastly Team Pink includes Yami and Remi.

Every episode had a specific theme from favourite foods to TV show characters and more. They were given 8 hours to complete the pinata and were asked to add a surprise element – which was usually revealed in the middle of the episode. In the end, all of the pinatas were eventually destroyed with one team getting the best badge while the other was eliminated from the competition.

The last challenge of the show finds only three teams remaining in the grand finale – Team Yellow, Blue and Purple. And there’s also featuring a special guest: kids’ crafts queen Alma “Cositas” Gómez. Many contestants get emotional on seeing their inspiration in front of them and get ready for the last challenge – to create an alebrijes.

Alebrijes are whimsical carvings depicting animals, people, objects, and imaginary creatures painted with intense colours and intricate patterns. They are a composition of various animals together to create a unique creature. As soon as the challenge was introduced all the teams started bringing their imagination on paper and sketching the pinatas.

There were some problems here and there, with the blue team asking for help from Belén Sánchez and Cositas, but overall everyone was able to pull off their best. Team purple created an alebrije depicting a bighorn sheep, lizard, chicken, dog and hummingbird – titled Cilagapeco and had a lot of colours, details and recycled paper textures that were mentioned by the judges.

Team yellow created alebrije named Mar-avilosso, which was made up of only sea creatures – sea horse, blue crab, sea turtle, piranha, manta ray, jellyfish and giant squid. They used sawdust in the decorations and a hanging lightbulb. Team blue created Fantasibrije which depicted three animals with a unicorn horn, dragon wings and mermaid tail. They created a whole story and extra elements with which they revealed small fantasibrijes.

The kids praised each pinata while considering every detail and that made a difficult decision to make since each one was worth winning. Also, for the finale, the pinatas were blasted off and after much deliberation, they eliminated team blue and selected team yellow and purple as the top two.

For the final reveal, they had the ultimate pinata of Triumph which was filled with the confetti of the colour of the winning team. For the last time, Salva is called upon as everyone holds their breath and he hits the golden seven-pointed pinata. Ultimately the team that is revealed to be the winner is Team Purple.

The winning team consists of Josel Tapia Rubio and Jorge Arenas. While Josel makes piñatas for a living, Jorge is actually a carpenter and combining both of their skills together, they always bagged the second position which lead to their final victory as Piñata Heroes. Also, Jorge had promised to shave off his beard, if they even reach to the finals – which he cut off when they did.
