Pigpen Kdrama: Cha Seung-won, Jang Ki-yong, Roh Jeong-eui, and Others to Headline Thrilling Webtoon-Based Mystery Series!

The highly anticipated mystery thriller Pigpen kdrama (돼지우리) has officially revealed its star-studded cast, promising an electrifying adaptation of the popular webtoon by writer Kim Carnby. The series, which is set to premiere in 2025, boasts an ensemble of some of South Korea’s most acclaimed actors, including Cha Seung-won, Jang Ki-yong, Park Hee-soon, Roh Jeong-eui, and Kim Dae-myung.

Pigpen will follow the harrowing journey of Jin Woo, played by Jang Ki-yong, a man who finds himself shipwrecked on a deserted island with no recollection of how he got there. As he grapples with his lost memories, he encounters a mysterious family living on the island and must piece together his past to survive the strange and potentially deadly situation.

Jang Ki-yong, known for his versatile performances in The Atypical Family and My Roommate Is a Gumiho, will undergo a dramatic transformation for the role of Jin Woo. Described as a character who gradually reawakens his forgotten memories, Jin Woo is forced to confront a great secret that may hold the key to his survival. The role is expected to showcase Jang’s range as he navigates the intense psychological and physical challenges his character faces.

Veteran actor Cha Seung-won, recognized for his memorable roles in The Tyrant, One Ordinary Day, and A Korean Odyssey, will portray the enigmatic owner of the island’s only pension. A man who claims to hear the voice of God, his character will be central to the drama’s unfolding mystery. Cha’s ability to bring a powerful and complex presence to his roles suggests that his character will be a pivotal force in the series, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats.

Roh Jeong-eui, who recently gained attention for her role in Hierarchy and also know for her drama like Our Beloved Summer, Dear.M will take on the role of Romi, the eldest daughter of the island’s mysterious family. Romi’s interactions with Jin Woo are shrouded in ambiguity, as she attempts to entice him into leaving the island, raising questions about her true motives.

Park Hee-soon, who has garnered acclaim for his intense portrayals in series like My Name and Beautiful World, will play Bae Jung-ho, a desperate father searching for his missing son. His character’s relentless pursuit adds another layer of tension to the drama, as he becomes increasingly entwined with the island’s dark secrets.

Kim Dae-myung, known for his roles in Hospital Playlist and Misaeng, rounds out the main cast as Jin Tae-hee, a suspicious employee of the pension. Despite appearing to dutifully follow the orders of the pension’s owner, Jin Tae-hee subtly hints at a way to escape the island, making his true intentions unclear.

As the drama prepares for its 2025 release, the combination of an intriguing plot, a skilled cast, and the dark, suspenseful atmosphere of the original webtoon sets the stage for what could be one of the year’s most talked-about series.
