This episode opens with Ruby delivering a somber reflection on how unforgiving the idol industry can be when it comes to romance. She points out that many idols date in secret, carefully maintaining a single image in public to protect their careers. The moment news of a relationship leaks, the backlash online can be brutal, often derailing their future in the spotlight. Ruby also notes that scandals frequently stem from people within the industry, insiders who expose private matters for their own reasons. Ironically, that’s exactly what happens to Kana, who finds herself cornered by someone she should have been able to trust.

Mem quickly notices that Kana hasn’t been herself lately. Her usual spark is gone, replaced with a constant gloom that’s hard to ignore. Hoping to help, Mem turns to Aqua, but he refuses to step in. He admits that he can’t afford to get involved halfway; if he chooses to care, he knows he won’t be able to walk away later. And since he believes he can’t truly stay by Kana’s side, he keeps his distance instead.

Kana’s earlier choices also contribute to the tight spot she’s in, making the situation even heavier for her. At first, fear and uncertainty overwhelm her as she imagines what could happen next. Yet, rather than collapsing under the pressure, she confronts her spiraling thoughts on her own. Without relying on anyone else, she pushes through and regains her footing, showing a quiet resilience that defines her character.

The situation with Kana is not at all good, as her scandal completely breaks her spirit. She tries to understand why this has happened to her and what made someone attack her for no reason. Miyako comes up with the fact that the person who made her a scapegoat for the scandal, most likely wanted to take revenge on the director, who could have been her lover. Kana just became a victim of her schemes.

Ruby also tells this to her brother, who thinks about what he should do to protect Kana. He then asks Ruby if there was a way to save Kana, which might become problematic for Ruby; would she choose that path or not? Ruby says that she would, as Kana was her friend. Hearing this, Aqua makes his decision and chooses to do something completely unexpected. He goes to meet the journalist who wanted to defame Kana and makes an offer.

Aqua will give him a better story that will completely drown Kana’s scandal. He discloses the fact that both Ruby and Aqwa are children of the late Ai Hoshino. This completely shocks everyone, especially Ruby, who did not think her brother would do something like this. Not only that, but Ruby felt completely betrayed that her brother used her dead mother’s name like this. On the other hand, something else happens, and the relationship between Akane and Aqua takes an unexpected route, as a hideous secret comes out.

I like today’s episode because the psychological aspect comes alive in Oshi no Ko. The characters here are not perfect, and we get to see that from their imperfect actions. Their complex reaction to everything makes this series so much better and memorable than any other show.
