The grandfather of isekai has returned this season as Mushoku Tensei Season 2 Episode 3 is the third episode of the show’s latest season. Mushoku Tensei, also known as Mushoku Tensei Jobless Reincarnation or Mushoku Tensei Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu in original Japanese, is an adventure, drama and fantasy anime based on a light novel series written by Rifujin na Magonote and illustrated by Sirotaka.
“Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation” follows the story of a 34-year-old man named Rudeus Greyrat who dies in a rather unfortunate incident but is reincarnated into a magical world as a baby named Rudeus. Determined to make the most of his second chance at life, Rudeus resolves to embrace his newfound abilities and avoid the regrets of his previous existence. With his exceptional intellect and knowledge from his past life, he sets out on a journey of self-improvement and adventure, guided by the principles instilled in him by his parents.
Season 2 of Mushoku Tensei follows Rudeus after he battles another bout with his intense depression as Eris leaves him and goes exploring again. He picks himself off his feet to find his mother but can’t reconcile his feelings of being abandoned again. Meanwhile, we see a return of one of the most significant members of his past, as Sylphiette is given a reintroduction and wants to recruit him to a team. This episode is also known as Mushoku Tensei Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 3 and Mushoku Tensei Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu Season 2 Episode 3.

We are in the exact same situation that we were in when we left the previous episode, except that Rudeus has actually headed off from the town that he called home for a brief period. For now, where he goes and what he does are hypotheticals, and we don’t know where his life is going to take him now. Here’s hoping he can actually get something meaningful to do that, something that takes him closer to knowing where his mother is.

Once again, we didn’t hear anything about Sylphiette in this episode. Her introduction to Rudeus’s life could be the one thing that makes him like his former self. Or, well, his self in the middle. His former self had plenty of issues of his own. Then there’s the matter of Roxy, who is still out doing her own thing and trying to find Rudeus’ mother. Not only that, but she has the most substantial clue of them all. Rudeus has been alone for a long while now, which needs to be changed soon.
