Million-Follower Detective Ending Explained
In this Netflix crime-drama series, a vicious series of murders leaves the police squad shocked and the internet abuzz. The series opens with a man walking into the police station and pointing a gun at the confused officers, who immediately try to de-escalate the situation. Detective Chen Chia-jen, observing the situation, shoots him to stop him from hurting anyone, but it turns out that the popular influencer, Wei-yan, was only carrying a BB gun, and it drives onlookers crazy.
Meanwhile, rookie police officer Li Hsin-ping immediately connects the crime to internet fortune teller, Baba the Witch, who had predicted a shooting a few days ago. Before long, Hsin-ping is assigned to Chia-jen so that they can both take advantage of each other’s strengths and solve the case. Before long, Chia-jen has to take the help of one of Wai-yan’s influencer friends, Lin Ting-yu, and the three of them immediately try to get to the bottom of the mystery as the bodies keep piling up.

Who is the murderer?
This entire ordeal is connected to Ting-yu and his friend’s past bad behaviour, wherein they were bursting firecrackers while driving their scooters, which resulted in a car getting into an accident. They all fled the scene, but unbeknownst to them, the car was being driven by Dr Kuo Ta-fu along with his pregnant wife. The accident resulted in her having a miscarriage, and she, too, eventually lost her life. Ta-fu has been harbouring this heartache for years, and with the help of the dashcam footage in his car, he finds and slowly kills off the four friends one after another.

Who is Baba the Witch?
Baba the Witch turns out to be Chia-jen’s estranged daughter, Chen You-jie, who was eventually captured by Ta-fu and imprisoned. Thankfully, Chia-jen and the team were able to get together to save her before it’s too late.
Are the predictions real?

The predictions aren’t real, as the series mentions quite early on, as it’s only a coincidence and a way for Ta-fu to control the narrative. Ta-fu was extremely angry with not only the four boys but also with Baba the Witch because, during the week of his accident, her predictions coincidentally matched. As a result, he decided to go after her as well and make use of her.
What was the shocking twist in the end?

The shocking twist in the end is that there wasn’t just one murderer, but two, the second one being Ho Chen-wei, Chia-jen’s boss. During the night of the accident, Chen-wei was at the scene with his drug informer, Chao Kuo-an, and, in a scuffle, he accidentally killed him, and the shot that he fired hit Ta-fu’s car, toppling it and killing Ta-fu’s family. He wanted to keep the truth buried to save himself, but the real video of the accident contained his own role as well, which made him go out of his way to stop the truth from coming out.
Does the series have a happy ending?
The series does have a happy ending, as Chia-jen reunited with his daughter and everyone else, too, goes back to their “boring” lives while the bad guys are punished.
