Metallic Rouge, also known as Metarikku Rūju (メタリックルージュ) is an anime series which is an original production by Bones Studio to commemorate their 25 years in the industry. Toshizo Nemoto takes charge of the screenplay, while the characters are brought to life through the creative designs of Toshihiro Kawamoto. The musical score is composed by Taisei Iwasaki.

The new episode takes a rather psychological turn and Rouge becomes a victim to it. Unable to fathom her surroundings, she enters a stage loop of events which leaves her with many questions. Moreover, it also provides a glimpse into the Nean’s possible past that the story has yet to explore more. Rouge is made to look into a possible past that might be able to uncover the truths.
However, although she remained perplexed by the entire situation, she also felt a sense of familiarity during certain aspects of the strange events. Her interest peaks and her curiosity to know more about herself becomes stronger. This plot point can prove to be pivotal for her character growth along with the story development.
Yes, the story is getting interesting with each episode but it lacks originality. Foreshadowing a secret past through eerie storytelling has been done multiple times before and makes the plot predictable. Moreover, it lacks a certain depth which does not allow the audience to connect with the characters. There is an attempt to make Rouge and Nicole relatable but it somehow always misses the mark. Their relationship lacks the connection which is needed for the fans to be engrossed in the plot entirely.
The newest episode has set a high bar for animation quality, impressing viewers with its careful artistry and lively visuals. Studio Bones, known for its skill in animation, once again proves why it’s a leader in the industry by delivering an impressive show. Each frame reflects their dedication and talent, with characters moving smoothly and vibrant colors making the experience visually stunning.

However, the show fails to create an engaging plot which will keep the audience in it for the long haul. Yes, Rouge saves Nicole at the end of every episode and vice versa but their relationship lacks a real connection.
