How I Met Your Father Season 2 Episode 4 brings some humour and light into Jesse’s love life. The different storylines of each character keep getting built, and we’re still unsure about who the father is. This episode looked mostly like a push for another episode and contains nothing special. The sitcom creator is Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, and it serves as a standalone sequel to everyone’s favourite show from the early 2000s- How I Met Your Mother (HIMYM).
We see the return of Hilary Duff as Sophie, Chris Lowell as Jesse, Francia Raisa as Valentina, Suraj Sharma as Sid, Tom Ainsley as Charlie, Tien Tran as Ellen and Kim Cattrall as the future Sophie. We will also see Ashley Reyes as Hannah, Leighton Meester as Meredith, Josh Peck as Drew, Meaghan Rath as Parker, Michael McDonald as Warren, Jessica St Clair as Megan, Morgan Smith as Alice and Stony Blyden as Jasper. In addition to the old cast, we have Mark Consuelos, Constance Marie, Michael Cimino and John Corbett joining the cast for the new season.
The fourth episode of the show’s second season is called Pathetic Deirdre. It is directed by Pamela Fryman and written by Isaac Aptaker & Elizabeth Berger. The runtime for the episode is 24 minutes.

– Hulu’s How I Met Your Father Season 2 Episode 4 Review and Recap Contains Spoilers –
The episode starts with Sophie and Val rooting for Ellen’s first day at work. When she leaves cheerfully, Val and Sophie end up contemplating how terrible their life is despite living in New York for ages. After that, Val suggests that they meet with Dierdre, one of their college mate, whom they both find pathetic and funny.
After this, we’re shown Jesse and Meredith recording a video about Meredith’s music tour. Sid completely hates Jesse being with Meredith as he believes she is using him for her music tour. Meanwhile, Charlie is dating girls now, and as a thank-you token, he sends them gift baskets. One of the women with whom he had a one-night stand misunderstands that he likes him and confesses that she likes him too. Charlie becomes perplexed.

Speaking of Ellen, she tries to reach the 51st floor for the meeting through the staircase but gets locked in it. Then she reaches out for the broom closet door and again gets trapped.
Meanwhile, Val and Sophie call Diedre to meet up, but she says she has a book-reading event to attend to. Val and Sophie attend the event, not knowing that it’s Diedre’s own book-reading event. The friends also realise that the book is based on the two, so they try to sneak out. However, Sophie hits the table and grabs attention.

How I Met Your Father Season 2 Episode 4 Ending
One of the women with whom Charlie spent the night finds out that the basket is an appreciation gift for the one-night stand. She then snaps at Charlie and leaves. In the book-reading event, it is revealed that Diedre is the one who used them two to look down on their pathetic lives. Val and Sophie are extremely offended, and they start to trigger her. When they do so, Diedre yells at them, and the viewers of her book-reading event find her toxic. They lash out at her while Val and Sophie get off for good.
Meanwhile, Ellen, trapped in the closet, reaches inside the vent and crawls to her office. As expected, the vent breaks, and she causes chaos. Finally, we see Sid confronting Jesse that Meredith truly doesn’t love him, to which Jesse gets pissed. When Jesse packs his clothes for the tour, Sid asks whether he can come and watch it, to which Jesse coldly replies that he only needs supportive people.
How I Met Your Father Season 2 Episode 4: Final Thoughts
The episode is subtly funny, and it explores Jesse’s relationship more. We don’t have any scenes showing how Sid and his long-distance relationship is going. We might have a chance between Sid and Sophie in the near future. Charlie is dating currently, but even he has a chance with Sophie. However, it can worsen Val and Sophie’s friendship.
Jesse is compromising himself that he loves Meredith, while the viewers will get a hint that Meredith clearly is using him for the music tour alone. So if he breaks up again, he might get another shot with Sophie.
