Host Ending Explained
The film opens with Ing arriving at the island and being introduced to the students, and from the get-go, there’s an air of hostility among the students. With the reform school situated on an island, there are a ton of rules, and as a storm approaches, Pin is left stranded on the island. Hoping for a fresh start, things look up for Ing at first, with the principal, Prissana, seeming to be very cooperative.
Of course, things take a drastic turn as she is relentlessly bullied by Aim and her cohorts, and seemingly curious things also happen that no one can explain. Ing is also severely beaten by Prissana for meeting Pin, pushing her to desperately want to leave the island. As the bullying gets more intense, it starts to feel like the island might not be haunted, but it might just be connected to Ing.
Another student, Ploy, tells Aim that, according to folklore from their village, a newborn is a ritual wherein they are “bought” from the hands of their protective ghosts to be raised by their parents. If the ritual is not completed, they might always have a ghost accompanying them, protecting them from harm.
A few days later, Aim targets Ing again and traps her in a well, leaving her for dead. Thankfully, Pin finds her and brings her back, and she points out the real culprits, but nothing comes of it. Having had enough with the bullying, Ing or, rather, her godmother spirit, takes matters into her own hands.
Why does the ghost stay with Ing?
The folklore says that the head of the doll must be separated from the body to keep the godmother spirit at bay. However, Ing had accidentally attached the two pieces and, since then, the spirit has stayed by her side.
What happens to Aim and the others?
Things come to a head when Prissana joins in on bullying Ing, which her godmother spirit does not take lightly. She starts to kill the students one by one, and Ing eventually faces off against Aim after killing Pin to death for taking Aim’s side. Their fight takes them to the beach, where the two girls fight. However, when they overhear a distant ship’s horn, Aim stops going after her to restart her life afresh. Unfortunately, Ing stabs herself to make her protective spirit kill Aim for her, but, in a shocking twist, the ghost decides to take Ing with her to keep her safe from everything that can hurt her, effectively killing her.

Aim eventually waits for the ship with Pin’s body in her arms. All the students are safe as well, but the ship’s men immediately suspect her of killing Pin after she is caught with a knife in her hand. She asks for her friends’ help to clear her name, but to no avail.
What is Ploy’s role in the entire thing?
Throughout the film, Ploy is seen to be a meek girl who comes under pressure from both Aim and Ing. However, in the last few minutes, she proves to be a smart and conniving woman who apparently has been playing everyone around her. She had initially goaded Ing into killing Aim, and when that didn’t work, she lied to the police and told them that Ing never existed and all the murders were committed by Aim. This is her ultimate revenge, which results in Aim being sent to prison.
