Hell’s Paradise Season 2 Episode 5 Recap

This episode finally reveals a possible way off the nightmarish island while also expanding the world in some fascinating ways. We learn that the fortress is modelled after an actual palace, but everything surrounding it is warped into something far more sinister, filled with grotesque, inhuman trials. Taking on each of the Tensen head-on is clearly a losing strategy, which makes it obvious that Gabimaru and the others need a smarter plan. Their best bet? Steal the elixir and escape the island by ship.
It turns out that ships and floodgates exist beneath Horai, and the monsters have been instructed not to interfere with them. With that knowledge, the group begins intense training under Gabimaru and Yuzuriha, focusing on mastering Tao. The training is brutal and painfully demanding, far from something anyone could perfect in a short span of time. Still, these shared struggles deepen their trust in one another, strengthening bonds that had previously been fragile.

The group then splits into two carefully organised teams, each formed according to the members’ Tao attributes and strengths. Gabimaru and Sagiri are assigned to the elixir retrieval mission, a task that requires both raw power and subtle precision.
Hell’s Paradise Season 2 Episode 6 Review

The episode begins with a massive problem for the heroes. Right off the bat, Gabimaru is supposed to fight with Ran, who is a master at hand-to-hand fighting. They previously discussed that if they ever came in front of any Tensen, they would have to abandon their original plan and shift to something else. Another major issue is that Gabimaru’s tao is fire, and Ran’s tao is water. They oppose each other, and it is a natural disadvantage for the Gabimaru.
And then the battle begins, and this advantage is very prominent from the very beginning. The battle goes on, but something happens in the middle of it, and the face completely changes when Gabimaru manages to land the first blow. From here on, it takes a completely new form, and then we get to see the original fight. On top of that, the situation of others is also very concerning, as it is very clear that the Tensen are going to win.

However, the second half of this episode is where things get really serious in the battle between Gabimaru and Ran. Here, Ran undergoes Kishikai and transforms into a new form. It becomes apparent that Ran is one of the most powerful Tensen ever. The situation becomes really dire for our heroes. Something truly unexpected happens, and we will only know for sure what will go on in the future next week.
Verdict

I’m genuinely excited to see how this conflict will unfold next week. The episode ends on such an edgy note that it feels impossible not to speculate about what comes next, especially with Gabimaru. The animation once again elevates the experience, making every transformation feel consequential.
There’s also a strong sense that the emotional stakes are rising alongside the physical ones. If the final stretch of the series can balance this intensity, it has the potential to deliver a great conclusion.
