Havoc Review
The plot of the film follows a detective fighting his way through the underworld as it threatens to engulf his city in the aftermath of a drug deal gone wrong. Now, he needs to fight a crooked politician whose estranged son is blamed for the mess, a vengeful crime syndicate whose son took a deadly brunt, and his fellow cops who have a secret to hide. Adding on to this mess, he comes face to face with a past he wishes to forget. Will he be able to save everyone from the damage these people are set to cause, or will he fail in his mission?
The film starts off with a narrative from our main character, followed by a sequence of events that become the starting point of the chaos that is soon to erupt. With dark colours and many gory sights, this film takes a stand from the beginning that this isn’t for just anyone to watch. And as it is an action film, get ready for a lot of bullets flying around several scenes with no break, while the main character and his sidekick somehow miraculously survive through it all.
As for the plot, it hardly existed because there was only time for the action they wished to show. You can easily point out that the plot was mercilessly killed in order to incorporate scenes with bullets flying around with absolutely no limit. Of course, this limit only comes when an important character is about to die at the wrong time. Either way, it is important to look back at the action tag when the plot begins to feel disappointing.

On the other hand, when it comes to the thriller, well, there is hardly any. You know who really made the mess quite early because body language speaks louder than words. The thriller aspect of the film is truly disappointing, and it doesn’t do us any good when watching this film. But once again, the action in the film was worth it, and it only gets better because of the wonderful art shown by the make-up team. I absolutely loved the realistic make-up done in this film, which was brutal and bloody.
Overall, the movie stands by its title because there’s only havoc in this film. It’s a mess, and there is hardly anything good unless you are a hardcore action fan and love blood spilling everywhere. The plot is simple, and the action scenes are way too many in this film.
Summing Up
Havoc is a good action film but a disappointing thriller. The action shown in the film is brilliant, smooth and worth watching, despite the typical plot that never hides anything. Meanwhile, it is a disappointment for thriller fans who love the mystery that slowly reveals itself. So it depends on the viewers’ preference when it comes to watching this film.
Watch Havoc on Netflix.
