– Change Days Season 2 Episode 16 Recap Contains Spoilers –
It’s D-day at the resort, and things start off in Change Days season 2 episode 16 by showing us breakup videos of all the contestants one week before the trip began. What would you say to your partner if you broke up with them after the trip?
We then go back to the last episode’s end, wherein no one matched with anyone to go on the last date. While Ji-yu is unhappy about not going on a date with Jeong-hun, everyone gets one a new message – the last talk with your partner before finally going on the final selection. Everyone seems to be on board to have one last rational and calm conversation before everything (possibly) going down the drain.
However, there’s fear as well – Yun-seul isn’t sure where her relationship is going considering the way her last talk with Hyo-gi went. But, there’s no time for that since Do-hyeong is already there to take Ji-yu away and have a conversation. Although their last conversation didn’t go well, this one feels more open and honest and Ji-yu, too, opens up about her feelings.
It’s refreshing watching her push through her awkwardness and discomfort to put her point forth. I think everyone says their piece quite honestly and in a straightforward manner. Unfortunately, as per usual, not everyone’s conversations go well, and Hyo-gi and Yun-seul as well as Tae-wan and Hye-yeon continue to fight and not have satisfying conversations. The night ends with everyone feeling a little tensed, stressed and morose.
It’s D-day, finally, and after finishing some packing, everyone gets the dreaded text – choose what you want to do and tell your partner your decision in person. As everyone gets ready to spill the beans to their partners, you can feel the anticipation and tension in the air. As everyone tries to get comfortable to say their piece, a new message informs them that it’s time to tell their partners their decisions.

And you could cut the tension with a knife. Hui-hyeon goes first as she decides to stay with Jeong-hun while he, in a heartbreaking confession, chooses to stay with her as well. Moving on to Ji-yu and Do-hyeong, after a brief moment of thought, Do-hyeon chooses to stay with Ji-yu, and so does she. I think Ji-yu and Do-hyeong have had a nice run, just like the former couple. They’ve fought and overcome their challenges and they have realized things about themselves, and we always love watching personal growth!
Now, we move on to Yun-seul and Hyo-gi. What a problematic couple, they literally didn’t talk to each other the entire trip, and on the final day, Yun-seul did not choose Hyo-gi, and neither did he. It’s actually really sad watching afterwards when Hyo-gi sobs after leaving the restaurant in his car. We then jump to Tae-wan and Hye-yeon, she decides to stay with him, and he does as well. It’s Hye-yeon’s change that changed his mind, and it’s sweet to watch them trying to make their relationship better.
Back to Yun-seul and Hyo-gi, they both receive the goodbye recording that they had previously recorded, and it’s a barrage of tears from both of them as well as some of the MCs. It truly is a heartbreaking moment, no one likes watching couples go through a breakup and regardless of the fights, it’s still a difficult moment. However, it’s nice to watch the other couples get their happy endings, albeit it’s definitely a bittersweet moment.
Change Days Season 2 Episode 16 Review
I think this was the perfect ending for the series. We didn’t go too dramatic, there was enough emotion, and, in the end, you feel rather sad but also hopeful.
I enjoyed the Change Days season 2 finale. I think it was balanced in every way possible and would make everyone think a little if they are having issues in their relationships.
