Best Anime Series of 2023: Making a list of the best anime each year is always tricky. The fact that I can not put every good anime in here and that there will always be a difference in opinions when setting up any lists is saddening. But I will still go through the challenge and present shows that a huge majority of people loved in 2023. So, without further ado, let us jump right into our list of 8+ Best Anime Series of 2023, constructed in no particular order.
8+ Best Anime Series of 2023
Vinland Saga Season 2
The second season of Vinland Saga was not something we all expected. Rather than being heavy on action like the previous season, it was more philosophical and gave us a look inside Thorfinn’s psychology. We see what happened to him after his journey with Canute concluded in a faraway land. But if you are solely expecting to see Thorfinn fight, then you will be disappointed, as here he is fighting his own demons from the past. This is honestly better than the first season as it shows Thorfinn’s mental and emotional growth really well.

Dr Stone New World Part I & II
Dr Stone released its 2nd season in 2 parts, and they both are equally enjoyable. In this season, you will see the journey of Senku and his friends from their land to the other side of the world. It is a trip to the New World about which no one knows. But Senku and others must be aware of impending dangers and challenges. Perhaps the most shocking factor will be the introduction of a bunch of new characters in a way you would never expect.

Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War – The Separation
When Bleach dropped its new seasons, no one thought it would end up becoming one of the best shounen anime series ever. In this season, you can learn a bit more about Yhwach. The involvement of Uryu and the question of his loyalty is also an essential aspect here. But you are sure to witness action-packed moments and thrilling twists. These things definitely puts this season of Bleach in the elite club with other contenders.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End
Now, this is a brand new anime that soon shot to prominence because of its storyline. It tells about the journey of an elf mage named Frieren, who has just defeated a demon king in a great war.
The series is full of exciting action but also has a strong focus on character development as Frieren grapples with her past and uncertain future. It’s an introspective take on the classic fantasy adventure trope and is definitely worth checking out for fans of the Isekai genre!

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2
The new season of Jujutsu Kaisen was again the talk of the town the moment it dropped. This part will seriously shock you with many surprises, most notably because of the absence of one major character. You will also witness regretful deaths, which will be important for Itadori’s character growth. The animation is obviously world-class, and I should not have to mention their exciting and fast-paced storyline, which makes this series an absolute hit.

Oshi No Ko
Oshi No Ko is another unique and exciting anime that goes above and beyond your expectations. It talks about two twins, a boy and a girl, who are born to a famous Japanese musical idol. The twins, thus, navigate the tumultuous world of the Japanese entertainment industry as they grow up. The anime delves into the complexities of fame, family, and the pressure of living up to expectations. If you want a psychological anime that can fool you with its cute characters, this is your thing.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc
In this part, we will see the swordsmith’s village that remains hidden from everyone. Nezuko and Tanjiro will face another challenge here, but without the assistance of their friends, Zenitsu and Inosuke.
The animation for this season is also something to behold, along with great music. Also, remember, a huge surprise awaits towards the end. But, yes, I must confess, I liked the previous seasons more than this one.

Tengoku Daimakyou
This anime takes place in a post-apocalyptic Japan, overrun by monsters. The story follows a girl named Kiruko who sets out on a journey with a young boy named Maru to find a place called “Heaven,” rumoured to be a safe haven. Along the way, they face all kinds of dangers and challenges, from the monsters that roam the land to the people who are trying to take advantage of them.
It’s a suspenseful and thrilling ride that keeps you guessing at every turn. And even after watching the first episode you will likely not understand the plotline, so do have some patience.

Jigokuraku
Jigokuraku, or Hell’s Paradise, is a wild ride of an anime! The story follows a group of convicts in the Edo period of Japan who are offered a chance to be pardoned and freed if they go and investigate a newly discovered island. This anime is filled with action, intrigue, and plenty of twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat. If you like your anime dark and suspenseful, this one is worth a watch! You can expect greater things from its 2nd season, which will be released soon.

Lastly, I would like to mention some of the other shows that garnered a huge buzz because of their captivating storyline and ardent fan following. They are Spy x Family Season 2, Mushoku Tensei, Watashi no Shiawase na Kekkon, etc.
I must also mention Attack on Titan: Final Season – The Final Chapters, as it deserves one of the top spots. But here, I am only ranking proper series, and this one was a 2-episode special.
