Ms Incognito Episode 9 Recap

After stabbing Hye-ji viciously, Ho-se is about to kill Yeong-ran as well when Dong-min barges into her house and starts to viciously fight with him quite effectively. The police arrive just then, and Ho-se makes a run for it, and, surprisingly, Dong-min lets him go. Panic takes over the village after they realise what has happened, and both women are eventually taken away to the hospital.

When Yeong-ran comes to, he instructs Don to change their tactic since staying in Muchang doesn’t seem to be an option anymore. She leaves immediately, but not before bidding Ju-won goodbye. In Seoul, Yeong-ran decides to hold a press conference and challenge Seon-yeong directly, and instructs Don to find Seon-woo’s video during that time.

With the risky plan secured, Yeong-ran reveals her face to the world in the press conference and directly tells everyone that she wants to stop Seon-woo and Seon-yeong from having a say in the management of the company. Meanwhile, in Muchang, the villagers are left heartbroken at having lost their cherished teacher, even though she was a fraud. Her comments leave everyone surprised, but the broader public perception seems to be positive.

Elsewhere, a strange man, Kim Gyo-bong, stabs Seon-yeong in an elevator, which turns the press conference upside down. In a shocking twist, the perpetrator goes to the police and falsely confesses that Yeong-ran had hired him to kill Seon-yeong. For some reason, Don blames Yeong-ran for this turn of events, pulling her past into the conversation for their predicament. As things get more and more complicated, Dong-min decides to visit Yeong-ran, while, as it turns out, So-young orchestrated this entire stabbing incident on Seon-yeong’s own orders.

That night, Don meets Seon-yeong, who threatens to put Mi-seon in jail if he continues to help Yeong-ran and, instead, proposes to pay him off. At home, Dong-min tells Yeong-ran had he has missed seeing her and, sensing his feelings, she tells him to go back and that the person he knew in Muchang doesn’t exist. Instead, she’s a money-hungry woman who will do anything for power, breaking Dong-min’s heart. However, the incident and the loneliness, of course, get to her as well.

As the end draws near, Yeong-ran’s problems start to grow as Seon-yeong gets more and more desperate. I found the episode to be quite thrilling, with a lot of moving parts, and with the romance plot finally taking the backseat. I guess the series never really lived up to the hype of its first two episodes. Thankfully, at least, things are picking up now, but Yeong-ran’s incompetence shows in every scene. I think she’s written very poorly, and the series doesn’t live up to the expectations that it had created previously. Overall, I think the series really needs to redeem itself at this point, as the protagonist feels ridiculous.
