The first part of Season 3 of the saucy and ever-popular Netflix series Bridgerton finally hit screens on May 28, 2024, and with Penelope finally getting the attention that she deserves, it’s been a relatable and emotional watch for many. Of course, with its added dash of sauce on the side. However, as we are left high and dry at the end of part 1, let’s discuss the possibilities that await Penelope and Colin’s blossoming romance in part 2.
Bridgerton Season 3 Part 1: The Story So Far
The first part of Bridgerton Season 3 saw Penelope coming out of her shell and turning into a butterfly that attracted everyone’s eyes wherever she went. However, the sudden attention left her a little frazzled as she fails to secure prospects for marriage after fumbling through talking with the approaching suitors. With time running out and the thought of spending her life under her sisters’ thumbs becoming a very real possibility, she takes Colin Bridgerton’s help in order to become better at talking to men.
That blows up in her face when the story gets out and she becomes the object of ridicule once again, leaving her heartbroken. In the midst of this tumultuous time, she asks Colin to kiss her, realising that she may never have a chance to feel love after the debacle. The forbidden kiss sparks romance in Colin’s heart, who, previous to this, only took Penelope to be his friend. The act puts his life and thoughts in disarray and after some words of wisdom from his mother, he realises that he has fallen in love with her.
Meanwhile, Penelope’s relationship with Lord Debling comes to a sudden and heartbreaking end when he realises that Penelope nurses feelings for Colin. Frustrated and heartbroken, she fights with Colin inside her carriage on the way back home when the two suddenly give in to the throws of passion, after which Colin asks Penelope to marry him, and she excitedly agrees to do so.
