Glitch Ending Explained: Will Ji-hyo Be Able To Save the Followers?

Netflix’s latest Kdrama Glitch has shown us an entertaining blend of genres that keeps us hooked until the last episode. Directed by Jin Han-sae, the drama stars Jeon Yeo-been, Nana, Lee Dong-hwi, Ryu Kyung-soo, Jeon Bae-soo, and Jung Da-bin alongside other cast members.

The protagonist in Glitch sets on a mission to search for her ex-boyfriend, and she unexpectedly finds more on this journey than she would have thought. The show brought us the perfect entertainment that has everything we need to bring us to the edge of our seats.

Netflix’s synopsis of the Kdrama reads:

A YOUNG WOMAN JOINS FORCES WITH A UFO ENTHUSIAST TO INVESTIGATE HER BOYFRIEND’S SUDDEN DISAPPEARANCE AND STUMBLES INTO A WILD CONSPIRACY.

Glitch Ending Explained

The last episode of the show has Ji-hyo believing that getting back her chip that was implanted inside her brain by aliens is the only solution to fix things. As she waits to get her hands back on the chip, Bo-ra, who has been thrown out by Ji-hyo sees a suspicious light and begins to follow it.

On the other hand, Ji-hyo has been told that everything she saw and believed in has been a lie. The Father tells her that there was no chip inside her and that her memories have been distorted because of the virtual world they have been sending her to. Ji-hyo is in shock because she still believes in what she saw but is unable to distinguish between anything any longer.

While unable to digest the Father’s words, she realises that she has been drugged by him to be brought in front of all the believers and be made into the person who leads them to mass suicide. She is unable to do anything as she is brought in front of the crowd and chained while they put a suspicious device on her head.

Elsewhere, Bo-ra follows the UFO-like light but finds out that they are just drones that have been prepared by the Father. Young-gi who is watching this along with her is left in shock because everything she has believed in turned out to be a lie. While watching this, the men there notice their presence and chase them but they are soon saved by Cap Dae-hwi and the others who then rush to save Ji-hyo.

Luckily, Ji-hyo stops everyone from consuming the deadly pills by telling them all that this cult is a lie, but it is when Young-gi shoots down one of the drones that everyone believes her words. Left in utter shock after finding out the truth, the followers blame Ji-hyo for everything while the Father runs away from the scene.

Bo-ra tries to free Ji-hyo from the chains but by the time she succeeds, it is too late and the crowd has surrounded them. It is at this moment that a spaceship appears in front of them which leaves everyone present in shock. It takes away Ji-hyo and Bo-ra while everyone is left behind unable to contain their astonishment.

Inside the ship, a squid-like alien approaches Ji-hyo and takes away an advanced chip-like thing that couldn’t be detected by the cult members and leaves them back on earth. The girls are happy after finding the existence of aliens that they have always been looking for, while the cult members are captured and the story makes headlines.

Will there be a Glitch Season 2?

The show has just arrived and it is hard to know if the two friends are going to return for another season, which will most likely revolve around Big Foot. There has been no official statement as of now, but we can say that the adventures of Ji-hyo and Bo-ra are fun to watch and another season wouldn’t be a bad idea.

What do you think? Should there be a Glitch season 2? Let us know in the comments below!

  1. Strange start, was hoping it was about ufo and aliens, BUT NOOOO, only a crasy klux klux suicide cult, sometimes thIngs happen but too far away from eacother, TOO MUCH TALKING SOME PLACES, eps 6 THAT CRASY GIRL WITH HUGE SHOTGUN SHOOTING PEOPLE, FUCK THAT, from there its down hill and not much to watch, except the last eps its finally SOMETHING HAPPENING, they finally shut the big bad guy in the end and the other older crasy bad women gets away (fucks she looks so happy about) , well im out AND NO, NO NEED FOR ANOTHER TOURTURE SESSON, SPOILERS?!?!? DONT CARE, MUST WARN PEOPLE.

  2. It was a horrible watch from beginning. I tried to stay on from episode 3 but it just getting boring and worse. Skip it. The trailer was fooling all of us, sigh.
    * Watched final episode in fast forward mode just to know the ending.

  3. I come to this site, after watching the final episode, just to see if I really understood the series I have just watched.

The truth is, while the show had some hillarious moments, i.e., the car driving scene, the whole show is pretty boring due to the story telling and some cartoonish boring characters, incl. the Jihyo character.

The main attraction that allowed me to struggle through the ten episodes is Nana, whom I do not know before, as I am not into K-Pop idols. She really shines.

This series also, I think, really dragged down the rating for Jihyo’s actor. The character was just really badly written.
