6th Newsis Hallyu Expo: Kim Soo-hyun, Kim Hye-yoon, Go Min-si, and Byun Yo-han Confirmed to Attend the K-Expo

The highly anticipated 6th Newsis Hallyu Expo, also known as the 2024 K-Expo, is set to take place on August 22, and it promises to be a star-studded event. Renowned actors Kim Soo-hyun, Kim Hye-yoon, Go Min-si, and Byun Yo-han have been confirmed to attend, where they will be honoured with prestigious awards recognising their outstanding contributions to Korean television.

Kim Soo-hyun, one of South Korea’s most esteemed actors, will be receiving the Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Award for his stellar performance in the tvN drama Queen Of Tears. This award highlights his continued impact on the Hallyu wave, following his acclaimed roles in dramas like My Love from the Star and It’s Okay to Not Be Okay. QOT showcased Kim’s versatility and depth as an actor, further solidifying his place as a cornerstone of Korean television.

Kim Hye-yoon, another rising star in the Korean drama scene, will be honoured with the National Assembly Culture, Sports, and Tourism Committee Chairman Award for her role in the tvN drama Lovely Runner. Known for her breakout role in Extraordinary You, her performance in this drama has been praised for its emotional depth and relatable portrayal of a young woman navigating life’s challenges.

Byun Yo-han, who captured audiences with his intense and complex performance in the Disney+ series Uncle Samsik, will also receive the National Assembly Culture, Sports, and Tourism Committee Chairman Award. Byun’s role in this drama has been lauded for its nuanced depiction of a man caught in the turbulent socio-political landscape of Korea during the 1960s, showcasing his ability to take on diverse and challenging characters.

Go Min-si, who has gained international recognition for her role in the Netflix drama Sweet Home (Seasons 1-3), will be honoured with the Seoul Mayor Award. Her portrayal of Lee Eun-yoo, a character who battles inner demons while facing apocalyptic horrors, has resonated with audiences worldwide. Sweet Home has been a global success, further amplifying her status as a leading actress in the new generation of Hallyu stars.

The awards ceremony will be held at The Great Hall in Josun Palace, starting at 3 PM. Fans unable to attend in person can watch the event live via the Newsis YouTube channel, where the proceedings will be streamed, allowing global audiences to join in the celebration.

In addition to the awards, the event will feature special congratulatory performances by H1-Key, Triple S, and Big Ocean. These performances are expected to add even more excitement to an already dazzling event, celebrating the achievements of these top stars and the vibrant culture of Hallyu.
