With the rise in consumption of Korean media all around the world, everyone wants to join in the latest trends. K-pop has become one of the latest trends that the general public has been obsessed about. It has taken the world by storm and people cannot have enough of it. But there are still some underrated K-pop groups that the world is unaware of.

Whenever there are discussions about the genre of music, only BTS and BLACKPINK come to our minds. But when we take a deeper look at the industry, there is a range of groups that deserve as much attention and love from people all around the world. These groups have amazing singers, dancers and performers combined that will blow your minds away!

3 Underrated K-pop Groups in the West

EXO

EXO under SM Entertainment debuted in the year of 2012. They started with 12 members divided into two sections, EXO-K and EXO-M. EXO-K consisted of 6 South Korean members who sang their songs in the Korean language meanwhile EXO-M consisted of 3 Chinese members and 3 South Koreans who sang their songs in Mandarin.

They were one of the biggest K-pop groups when they debuted, becoming the first million-sellers after a 20-year drought in South Korea. Their chart performance was also incredible, won multiple daesangs and sold out every concert venue they were in. They are a big name in Asian countries and there is hardly anyone who has not heard about them. But still, they remain quite unpopular among the general public and the west.

The group is currently on military hiatus, one of the members is serving and two of the members are still left to enlist. It is expected that by 2025 they will return as a whole group. We can expect them to regain their popularity not only in Asia but also in western countries for their captivating talent and capabilities.

This new group of four young girls swept the K-pop fans and the industry off their feet with their Korean remake of the Fast And Furious song Next Level. They topped the charts in South Korea and even managed to surpass mega-group BTS in their home country. They became very popular in all the other Asian countries as well but they remain unpopular with the general public.

They deserve recognition for their unique concept and alluring talent. Their concept is of the metaverse and each of the members has an AI replication and they all fight against an enemy in the form of Black Mamba. Each of their songs and music videos follows a storyline which makes their albums even more meaningful.

aespa received tons of appreciation from music experts for their mesmerizing vocals and visuals. With the amount of success they have gained in just a few years after their debut, it is expected of them to reach more heights of popularity.

LOONA

Consisting of 12 members, LOONA is a group formed under Blockberry Creative. Their ‘Girl of the Month’ concept and vast discography make them stand out among the other groups. Their choreographies remain one of the best in K-pop.

Not only the songs and concept, but the personality of the girls also will make you fall in love with them. Along with their astounding talent and elaborate concept with follows a plot in each of their music video, you are bound to become a fan! There are a lot of members in the group but in no time you will learn each of their names because of their different and captivating presence.
