Zombie Virus is a word that nobody would like to hear in a real-life context. We all have watched apocalyptic shows where a deadly virus spreads like wildfire, to the whole population and a handful of people survive amidst all the chaos. Now imagine this fictional scenario coming to life.
Scary, right? But it turns out this might become a reality, ever since it has been reported that scientists have revived a 48,500-year-old “zombie virus” buried under a frozen lake in Russia. To be more specific, they have been extracted from Siberian permafrost, which is melting due to global warming.
And it should be an issue of concern since melting permafrost releases long-dormant viruses, which could be much more deadly and create more pandemic-like situations in future. So how does one respond in hovering life-threatening situations like this? Managing anxiously conflicting situations with humour, aka memes.
Most of the reactions from the netizens have been to pull out a receipt from The Simpsons, a show which is famous for making predictions that comes true, in the real world. And rightly so, they have already predicted it in one of their episodes. While some K-pop fans are also sharing screengrabs of a TXT song called Good Boy Gone Bad, where a member sings about being a zombie. (cue to play Zombie by Day6)
Apart from this people are taking tips from other zombie apocalypse shows like, the Walking Dead, All of Us Are Dead and even the Bollywood film Go Goa Gone. Everyone’s gearing up with whatever weapon they can find, to save their lives from the living dead masses. Also, if you aren’t a fan of these genre films, then maybe it’s time to catch up as many netizens are recommending films that could help in these situations.
But in all seriousness, we truly hope the Zombie virus passes us like an internet trend, which fades away as quickly as it comes and doesn’t turn into a reality. For now, scroll down below and have a chuckle when you can, before it becomes a real threat.
